Going to take her out friday night for first test and tune
Well looks like after a few years in the making i will take my lead sled out for the first time friday. Thanks to Fast 383 for the converter. I get to pick up my tranny in the morning. Come to find out i broke the forward drum in it. I got a hardened one in last friday. Looking to be close to 12.20, and i will be happy without getting it on a dyno and tweaking on it.
Here are a few pics.

I got it put together and took it on a cruise tonight. I have a couple of leaks to fix but everything feels good. I embarassed a 2010 camaro on the way home, probably didnt expect the turd to move like it did.

It did not go to well. I could not even get it threw the 8th before the secondaries flooded out. I worked on it a few times then it went to lean, so i will get it on the dyno withen a few weeks and get it right.
But what i ended up with is
1.82 60' leaving a 2k on the converter wanted to make sure the 7.5 rear would stay together
8.0 at 64 mph lol it had died a good bit before the 8th
But i was pretty surprised about weighing in at 2910lbs.

yeah, you can get these cars pretty light if you don't have to put safety equipment in it. just wait till you have to add 100lbs with a real rearend and another 80lbs with a roll bar...then you can't figure out how to get more weight out of the car without spending some serious doh.
good outing, you learned abit i'm sure. what exactly was the car doing as it "flooded"...as that's a bit odd for WOT.

It just nose dived and filled up the motor to the point where the motor would not turn over. the rear bowl was completly full like the needle sticking open maybe. it is an older demon carb. It was dumbing white raw fuel smoke out the mufflers. i dont know i was just fed up and put it on the trailer.

Fast 383: the converter was not as loose as expected but stalled to around 2700 on the foot brake. I was gonna try to push it harder of the line but was a little fed up with not being able to get down the track.
zz17: your car looked great man. i wanted to stop and talk to you but got a little busy f**king with my carb. Next time i see you out there i will def stop and check out your car.
I picked up a 780 holley today. I will get a kit in it this week and see what it will do. The Demon is not super old just about 5 year old speed demon i picked up front a guy at our local speed shop.

Re: Going to take her out friday night for first test and tune
My car hydrolocked once as I was backing it off the trailer. I had just put a drop base k&n on it and a rubber breather tube on the fuel vents. In a matter of 20 seconds, the fuel tube was vibrating against the filter top, spreading black rubber dust ALL over the carb, plugging the air bleed jets. When those are plugged, your engine pulls a TON of fuel in. I actually drove to tech and back and it barely ran. I pulled a few plugs and fuel dumped out of the plug holes. Surprised it didn't bend rods or break rings, etc. Clean your air bleeds with a thin piece of electrical wire or a twistie tie wire if you are in a pinch!
Goodluck, the holley should work nice!!

2910! How in the world is your car so light? Do you have it stripped down? Interior?
My old 86 IROC weighed in at 3650lb (200lb driver). No AC equipment, iron heads, headers/single exhaust, full interior.
This year I have a Sport Coupe which I hope will be somewhat lighter but I can't imagine 600 - 800 lbs in the difference.

it is a full interior car. Im running no ac stuff, no front bumper, plastic 16gall fuel cell in the trunk (I notched it and built a cover for it). The front wheels are actually heavy summit pro stars and the rear are an older crager wheel that is super light. Lift off harwood hood. wires are to the minimium i put a painless kit in it after getting fed up with factory harness.
I still got this car in the eighth as i was rolling through lol

Was the 2900lbs with a driver?
If it's worth a tenth, I'll take my gas door off too!

Re: Going to take her out friday night for first test and tune
The 2900 is with out my fat *** in there haha.
About the gas door. I lost the cup that it bolts to. So i need to go find one. I still have a few things i want to get rid of for a little weight lose, but i do not think i will get another 100 off unless i do away with some intererior and i dont want to.
But about my fuel problem the carb the guy gave me was a vacuum secondarie. So i have been doing alot of research on tuning in my demon. It was way jacked up on most of the settings and had some trash in the secondarie's. So i have it soaking now and i will get it back together tomorrow.
