Re: is 90/10 struts and trick springs worth it?
I use Koni SPA1 front struts in my car for years. They're not cheap but they're better than a 90/10 strut.
Until I finally decided on installing trick springs, I was using V6 springs for a number of years. The original IROC springs have a real heavy spring rate which means it takes a lot to compress them. The V6 springs are made with a thinner wire and have a softer ride. They can be compressed more at ride height so they have more travel when the front end lifts. You could also use an RS spring or find a pair from an 82-83 with a 4 cylinder.
You don't want a spring with a heavy spring weight unless you're corner carving. For straight line acceleration, you only need a spring heavy enough to hold up the car at the preferred ride height. Adjustable shocks do the rest of the work.

FWIW... I wasn't having traction issues but still installed 90/10's and springs in my ride. didn't notice it going much quicker, but, it did feel better on the launch afterwards.
