Getting faster

Hard to say what helped the most, but the gains i got tonight were DOUBLE what i expected, i was ecstatic.

I removed the rear and door impact bars, removed the carpet and put some lighter stuff down, yanked the back seats out just for the track, added my home CNCd 2 inch spacer(lol) and built my own trans mount crossmember and TQ arm mount, i set the pinion up about -3* and slapped the ET streets on there. Last outing with them was a 8.1 at 92. With the nittos was 8.0 at nearly 93, 1.9-2.0 60 foot times for bother attemps to the track.

This time, there was no wheel hop as usual with the ET streets(26x11.5x16).

best pass was 7.63

MPH was 94.8

60 foot was a 1.8

Not, my last pass, i said, "Hey, lets see if it is faster shifting at 6500"

Wrong, got a 1.7 60, 7.6 at 92, how shiity was that? If i woulda stuck with my guns a 7.5 i am sure woulda happened.

I was shooting got 7.8, but evidently the carb spacer is magic...J/K. The combo of al the work i have done is clearly worth it, near 95 MPH made me super happy, that is 1 MPH off what my buddies Malibu did with more compression and heads that i ported. So, with a stalled auto, i am sure this thing would go 7.3 to 7.4, but it is 99% street so it aint gonna happen, LOL.

So, next time, i will be shooting for an even better 60, i am sure a 1.6 short time will allow a 7.4.

AWESOME NIGHT OUT, hope there are some others that get some good times before this cool weather screws it up for you norther guys, out tracks close for about 1 month, maybe 2 at most down here.

Re: Getting faster

Still wondering how much i might gain with ported 243s now as well, i woulda been glad to go 96 MPH with a set of ported LS6 heads, but now i will be looking for 98 or so.

Re: Getting faster

Yea, i am still just slipping the clutch and i forgot the damn lap top so i could set the two step higher to get a consistent launch. Once i was in the beams, i just revved it up and listened as i watched the lights come down, so i can do way better not having to do anything but hold the throttle down and clutch out when i was ready.

It did have some slippage after 2 passes at 18 pounds, then i remembered that the Hondas and other non what so ever street cars were wetting the track down and i dropped to 11 PSI and got my full traction back, last pass being a 1.7 felt good and i know there is more with the two step being utilized.

I am still excited i picked up 2 MPH and twice the ET i was looking for, totally not expected.

Re: Getting faster

Thanks, since i am not dumping/side stepping the clutch, the stock drive shaft should not give me any issues i think, it survived 5100 RPM clutch dumps, so a 6000 RPM sip should be fine.

Re: Getting faster

Well, got my 7.5 i was looking for, i wanted a 7.4 but i was having issues getting in my clutch slip groove. Last pass i left pretty hard, should have some videos tomorrow. Was 1.7 60 footing.

Re: Getting faster

Went 7.5 with the 1.7 60, hard to slip it and not bog to get a better 60 foot right now. But here is the pass, forgive the friend and wife speaking, they do not realize the delay on the tree is not a concern when you are just tuning, LOL.

Good side to it is, i went 7.5 after getting to the track with more than lat week, i had nearly a full tank, rear seats and molding in the car. Last week was on 1/8th tank and no rear interior.

This i think was the best pass:
