I bought my 87 Camaro already back-halved and the fuel cell "sorta" mounted in the battery location. It's a Jazz 4 gallon unit that they had mounted in the battery location using some questionable materials with the sump facing forward. I've removed the cell and the questionable materials and ground off all sharp edges from where they cut out the battery mounting floor. I know the cell needs to be mounted with the sump facing to the back and will use a 90 or 180 degree fitting to run the line away from the front tire and to the pump.

The question I have, is what kind of frame or mounting did you use to mount your fuel cell up front since there is no good surface to attach the mounting straps to up top and nothing to mount to on the bottom. If you could post some pictures I'd really appreciate it. I'm thinking I need to weld up some kind of frame, but I'm at a loss on where to start, and since I know many have done it before, I'd appreciate the help.

You should post up pictures, and maybe members that have gotten creative in the past can chime in with their limited wisdom...

Mines mounted on the other side, where that smog cr*p was originally at. Welded a plate behind it and drilled a couple of bolt holes in it to mount the cell too. Didn't use the bottom ones.

Unfortunately that setup wouldn't work for me since the hole is already cut and my fuel cell is bigger. I guess I could buy a new cell, but it would probably just be easier to fab up some mounting brackets to attach the fuel cell straps to.
