I've been running a Wilwood rear drag set-up, but stock fronts. This past weekend I was on my new (to me) Wilwood fronts. The set-up I used was originally intended for mustang II/pinto spindles, so I fabbed my own brackets. The rotors were actually a direct swap by using the stock f-body bearings and one extra washer behind the keyed washer for spacing.

Total weight savings was just under 30lbs. Not as much as I had hoped for, but much of the savings is rotating weight, thus every 1lb is considered to be worth 2lbs of static weight.


The pics show my DIY brackets. The spindles are cast steel and weld ok, plus they also bolt through the OE dust cover holes(which I in turn welded the bolts). If you have ever seen a stock spindle loose you can easily tell I cut a considerable amount off of them.












I'm sure the additional weight off the front end didn't help with the car wanting to ride the wheelie bars out, but I'll find the tune and get it going right.

I haven't noticed any difference in braking performance, but being a slicks/skinnies car I run more rear bias than front.
