Winter prep
I was wondering what you guys do for your car to store it in the winter. Do you use fuel stable and if so what brand do you recommend. If not would it be a good idea to run the car with the fuel pump turned off to drian the carb? If I were to use fuel stable should i run the engine and leave the carb with gas in it or run it dry with fuel stable in it? Thanks for the advice!

Re: Winter prep
My truck has been parked in my backyard since July 2007 because I now have a company truck to drive. The fuel tank is full and I fire it up twice a year just to make sure the battery still has a charge.
The race car is sitting on 4 jack stands in my garage. The coolant is drained from the rad and block because I run straight water. Just in case the furnace fails, I don't want it to freeze. My fuel cell is drained but that's only because I run alcohol and don't like it sitting in the fuel cell for longer than a month.

Re: Winter prep
Car is setting on jackstands, drained the fuel cell, lines, carb etc.... I have had people tell me that 110 octane will stay "good" howver, I don't take the chance. As the year winds down I buy less and less fuel, usually end up drianing about 1 gallon or less out of the entire system when I park it. And I usually run that last bit through the lawn mower just to use it up.

Re: Winter prep
Mine is just parked in the garage, new coolant and 1/4 tank fuel and new oil. I couldn't jack it up and put it on stands this year because I broke my leg and had surgery. Still can't really walk right... I hope it will be fine.

Fog the motor with Mystery Oil, back off all rockers, remove headers and seal each exhaust port, drain water from rad and block, put car on jack stands, drain fuel from cell, spray WD-40 into each cylinder and shut off battery.

Re: Winter prep
drain water, install antifreeze
shut off fuel pump and run car until it dies
wait until next season
next season, pull fuel lines off regulator and pump out fuel in the tank and reuse it in my pick up, install fresh gas, fire up to get the old oil spashed onto all the internals and get it all upto temp. drain oil to get rid of old condesated crap from winter cold/spring warm up cycles, install fresh oil/filter.
start car, let it get upto temp, shut down, check lash, run a few tanks of fuel through it on the street so i know everything is still in working order. order and install new stickies
go racing.
