Just got back from the track, couple new bests

Well, after the car slowing down last time by a little, a couple jet changes for this go around brought it back around for the cooler weather. Ran a new best on the motor of 11.81 @ 114.55 60' 1.63. Then after doing a bit of reading on nitrous tuning, I got a new best there too 10.49 @ 126.31 60' 1.42 Very happy with tonight's runs

nice going...what jet sizes are you running now? what did you do to the nos system to improve it`s tune up?

Re: Just got back from the track, couple new bests

80/88 jets in the carb right now I think and probably could have bumped that up a little more last night. As for the nitrous, I squared up the jets on the cheater plate to 82n/82f instead of NOS's 82n/91f and had the fuel pressure set at 5 3/4 psi. Bottle pressure was probably around the 950-1000 range by the time I did my run. Purging through the engine on a couple quick taps of the button, it was a lot crisper than it ever has been in the past.

do you tune by the plugs? I`m running the suggested jetting from NOS for a 150 shot and lowered the fuel psi from 7.5 to 6.5 and it was quite a difference..the plugs still look fat on it and I was thinking of squareing it

Re: Just got back from the track, couple new bests

I didn't pull a plug last night like I should have. Motor passes I was just going by the mph it was running. It dropped when it got cooler out so upping the jets got that mph back. The nitrous tune I was just going by what some other people have done with their cheater setup. Then I set my timing and fuel to where I thought it would be pretty safe. They weren't kidding when they said it would hit good off the line. The old tune of using NOS's jetting, I was running 4.5 to 5 psi to keep it from popping through the exhaust. Even then if you purged it through the engine, it was really lazy but the way it is now it's nice and snappy.

I bet you have more left in your nitrous system on that jetting. I run near the same time as you on motor, and on bottle, i run a little slower ET, but that's all in my 60ft compared to your run. Only catch is, I did it on a 58n/61f, granted I run a system that maintains bottle pressure at 1050 constantly, and not on a plate.

I wonder if you have a flow limitation some where in your nitrous system. I would think you would be able to pick up atleast another 5 mph over what your running now on bottle with that size jet.

10.49 @ 126.31 60' 1.42
damn, i got a long way to go on my shot 10.92 at 125 on a 1.65 60 spraying top of first, not off the line

very nice runs. My shot was rich out the box and took 2 jet sizes to lean it out to 12.0 to 1. I hope to pick up big time

I bet you could lower the fuel pressure to 5 and still be fine. Just watch your timming and read the plugs. Hate to see ya hurt anything.

Probably could, was just playing it safe. I'm done for the year unless something pops up at another track.
