dipping into the 7s...

Ran an 8.10 tonight dropping 6-7 tenths from a valve adjustment. here is setup:

89 iroc-z
3.27 rear w/ 26in tires (BFG DRAG RADIALS)
700r4 tranny w/ edge 3000 stall
355 w/ vortec heads, lt4 hot cam, performer rpm intake and 750 holley VS 3310 carb.
1 3/4 slp shortie headers to 3" magnaflow catback

I think i get could get the time down even farther than an 8.10 i had tools in my car and the air cleaner was still on and i only made 1 pass. For some reason my tranny automatically shifted at 6250? I hooked up pretty well at 16psi and a big burnout on the bfg's. Don't know 60 ft or trap speed. I'm thinking the vacuum secondary carb is costing some horsepower/reaction time and a 750 double pumper should shave some time off and add more power. i also have a non mandrel bend after where the cat would be, if i replaced that with a mandrel bent pipe maybe that would free up some horsepower. maybe shave some weight? I'm thinking carb for right now, anyone have experience with eldebrocks? Also but this would be next summer swapping my 700r4 (which ive been told is junk for drag racing) and 3.27 gears for a TH350 and 3.70 gears how much time would that shave off? thanks for any input guys you guys helped me out getting through the 8s
