Cacklefest last weekend

Last weekend we had a nostalgia race with a whole bunch of old nitro cars. On the Friday Afternoon, they were set up in the downtown core for display and fired a couple of them up. Banks and offices are along both sides of the street. The videos do not do justice to how these cars sound and you can't smell the nitro burning.

i LOVE nitro cars, we had the world fuel altered nationals at my home track a few weeks ago. That's always a really fun time, there's nothing like the sound of a blown nitro car going down the track, of the feeling in your chest when they take off

Nice thing about the nostalgia nitro cars. No stupidly huge engines, no turbos, no NOS, no dominator carbs, no fancy wrinkle wall slicks. I looked inside one car and it had one gauge, a tach. They were all period powerplants. Mostly flathead fords, a few SBC, Caddy and Oldsmobile engines. Rain hit early in the evening so they never got to run but I'm guessing most were in the 8 second range. Might not sound like much by today's standards but at the time, that was once a very fast car.
