Full day of T&T
The track had a big rig weekend today with trucks going down the dragstrip and oval racing in the evening. We were allowed to come out and have a T&T day for $25. Traction was very poor. Early in the afternoon before the big rigs got onto the track, I managed a new best but couldn't match it by the end of the afternoon. The big rigs stripped the track clean of VHT. Density altitude started off at 4959 on my first run and climbed to 5416 by the time I made my last run. It peaked at 5474.
2 passes I launched sideways. The second time, the track personnel wanted me to check my spool/axles thinking I broke something because I was so sideways. Nothing broken and I made a bunch more straight passes after that so I have to attribute the sideways launch as poor traction.
I managed 8 runs but only 6 were good full runs. Tried a bunch of changes to see what they would do and other than the poor traction, had a lot of fun. I think around 25 cars, bikes, dragsters showed up for the T&T. There was a big race at another regional track and many racers probably went there instead. In 5 hours, I did 8 passes and probably could have done more if I wasn't changing things between runs. I also burned 10 gallons of alcohol.
Still can't carry the front wheels past the 60' timers but today that could be because of the lack of traction. Next Wednesday night is the next T&T then next weekend is a big race weekend. Traction should be phenomenal for the weekend.
I kept the in car camera in the same place all day and managed to get 5 runs recorded although they weren't all very good. Here's one pass I did that didn't have a red light. My windows need to have the bugs cleaned off them. Last night I fabricated some Dzus fasteners at the front and rear of the hood. I still use the hood pins and the Dzus fasteners keep the hood from rising up after the 1/8 mile now.
