I'm not sure how to describe the track announcer. She sounds like someone who would be amused by shiny objects.

That is damn funny you said that, because it's true LMFAO!!! Our track is running a skeleton crew since they pulled most of our guys to work the world series event, including our announcer. Terry, the gal running the tower tonight called and asked if i'd want to announce So Linda, one of the racers wife volunteered, she's dingey, but man is she fun to party with, just a really fun good natured gal LOL!!! Her husband was out there tuning on his roadrunner, all steel, but tubbed racing S/P and runs mid 7's in the 1/4mi...ranks up there with one of the cleanest you'll see on a race track, and she's badazz to boot

Just watched the video again.
I heard the announcer say they were selling tall boys for a buck fifty. Wish the track was close to me.

Yes, still running the 29x9 but i upped the psi earlier this year and the car has responded to the change in a great way. 60's and R/T's are just that much tighter, and so far tire life is faaaaar surpassing all the sets yrs prior. Used to be a set a month since sidewalls stopped working, but the last set i had multiple passes/months on...so as long as i keep the engine in the 6-700hp range i see no problem using at most 2 sets a year at this point with a standard bracket schedule with some fun racing...we're not going someplace every weekend like we used to so natrually it's going to help since pass logs are waaaay down.

Heeelllll no, they can stick those tubes..... I tried them in two sets of M/T's when i gave that brand a shot since you can see through their sidewalls...figure of speech, but they're the weakest sidewall tire on the market. After that experience with two sets of M/T's and tubes....i'll never have either one of them installed on any of my vehicles ever again

Re: Bumper touching....check
I'm sure you, like all the M/T diehards we used to have locally before they slowly switched over will have excellent results going with the Hoosiers in longer tire life both sidewall and tread, and more consistant R/T's throughout the life of the tire....there is no comparison, but alot of guys get stuck on one brand and stick with them, i tried two sets of M/T's and vowed never again would i waste my money, and then almost our entire racing facilty has switched over from M/T's or FX and are now running Hoosiers, funny part is, they all give the same reasons i gave above as a result of the switch. You will be happy with them.
For the freshest set of matched tires call Larry Hodges with Hodges Racing
217-677-2358. If he does'nt have them in stock you will get them dropped shipped from the factory, the tires will be matched circumfrance wise (Hoosier pairs them up and measures each set before it leaves so there is no more than 1/4" variance between the tires) whereas speedshops like Summit/Jegs, etc...stock tires in bulk and the people pulling orders dont pay attention as far as rotating stock, keeping matched sets together, etc..they just pull and throw on the conveyor...then onto the next order. If you get a set of tires with any brown staining on the lettering-they're older than they need to be, ever since i started using Larry all the tires are fresh as can be, bright white lettering and there are codes on the tires that shows they come from the exact mold/batch together but i've never dug that deep into them.

Hoosier will be my next set of tires. I'm going to try the 29x9 being as my wheels are 9". I'll let you know how the car runs with them.

mine are mounted on a 10" rim so you should be fine, just dont be afraid to try higher psi like i was for years Once you break'em in, you'll love them, and it'll be another story of "i wish i'da tried these years ago"

Re: Bumper touching....check
NOW however i'm running 15psi and could possibly go a bit higher since i the picture in my sig shows the sidwalls are still deflecting a bit. Right now i'm happy where the R/T's are at, so once again I'm afraid to try anything different. This weekend is our last points event, so i may go out and play some more with the psi and see what happens going higher, but at least now the rim is'nt about digging into the pavement and wadding up over half the sidewall on launch.

Re: Bumper touching....check
IHI, try going up 1/4 lb at a time till it starts losing 60s. You may be suprised. When I was running a little tire, a 1/2 lb would make or break us. I had a 78 T/A with my old 383 and a th350 and with a 12x29x15 I was running 13.5 lbs on a normal day and down 1/2 if the track was a little greasy. Anything below 12 lbs and the tire would wad up and 60s would go sky high. I run between 7 and 8 psi now with the big tire but I'm running a stiff side wall 14.5x32. Bigger tires are more forgiving than smaller tires. And this car is about 450 lbs lighter than my old bird.

Re: Bumper touching....check
When i ran my Hoosier quick time pro DOT slicks i raced at 10psi, alot of the reason was i had to, to stay green. But when i tried upping the pressure to 11-12psi i would lose my 60'/spin a bit, so i just left it at that for YEARS.
NOW however i'm running 15psi and could possibly go a bit higher since i the picture in my sig shows the sidwalls are still deflecting a bit. Right now i'm happy where the R/T's are at, so once again I'm afraid to try anything different.
