I tested my Gtech at the track and it was right on the money to the .01 on ET but it did exagerrate the mph by 4 mph... but that phone set up is very cool!

I want one bad. But I have to wait until December to get the $200 iPhone. If you buy one and it's not time for a phone upgrade, they charge you $400 for the same phone. Not to mention the minimum plan is $70 a month not including a text message plan!

Oh yea, back on topic IROCThe5.7L!

Re: Dyno on Iphone Beats GTech!!!

They don't mention what an Iphone or Itouch costs.

If you read the comments, there's a lot more you can do with the G-tech and he admits he's never used one so he doesn't know the capabilities of the G-tech. For those who have already splurged to get an Iphone or Itouch and don't have a G-tech, $12 for some software is a good deal. If you don't have any of them, the G-tech is the better deal.

They did a side by side comparison of the track timeslip and Iphone time slip. You can see how much the Iphone is off at each time interval. They didn't do a side by side for the G-tech. They just said at the 1/4 mile it was more inaccurate. They also mentioned that it has to be calibrated for every car so maybe their calibration was off based on their admittance to being unfamiliar with it.

The idea of having a dyno in your phone that you can just hop into any car to prove if it can run what the owner says it will run is the best thing about the software.

It doesn't matter how fast you "say" your car will run. Get that track timeslip to prove it. Many people "think" they have a low 12 second car until they take it to the track and find out it only runs mid 13's.

Re: Dyno on Iphone Beats GTech!!!

check those comments again. If you notice rv1890 (thats me) posted a comment and quite a few people backed me up including someone who helped design the Gtech. Problem is i think they used the original old gtech as the comparison, and the new gtech pro rr does wayyyyyy more. Dont get wrong though..if you already own an iphone or ipod touch i think its worth the 13 bucks to try out dynolicious.

Re: Dyno on Iphone Beats GTech!!!

I tried it out on my Charger R/T that has a catback. It says 13.8 @ 106 which isnt that far off from others. It also claimed 297whp, which is a fuzz high. But not too bad.

Re: Dyno on Iphone Beats GTech!!!

All hell I just downloaded it on my iphone gives me one more thing to play with lol

Hopefully I get my car back together and I'll give this a try at the track but I must say after using 2 of the older G-techs they were pretty consistent, you just have to go to the track with them to give you a baseline of how far off they were with the the MPH and times.

Re: Dyno on Iphone Beats GTech!!!

It would be interesting to see others results. As long as you've already splurged for an Iphone, the dyno software is cheap but as already mentioned it doesn't have all the features a Gtech has if you have to choose buying one or the other just for an in car dyno. Buying a Gtech is a lot cheaper than buying an Iphone just for a dyno.
