mighty 305's new home
well...looks like i'm finally retiring the mighty 305 from the white car and it will no longer have to put up with my 6500rpm beatings any longer. the motor is now sitting soundly in it's new home under the hood of my father's 85 z28. the car is a race car, but he's looking to put it back on the street. right now there is a powerglide in the car but he's wanting to do either a built 700r4 or 4l60E. (we have both available to us, we'll see which one works out better). it will be de-tuned slightly from when i had it, all creature features will be going back into the car (the z28 was a factory no-ac car so it won't be getting ac). goals for this car is to run some low 13's/high 12's and be a blast to drive to cruise ins and such while remaining as streetable as possible. anyhow, here's a couple of pictures of the swap-a-roo for kicks.
new place of residence:
"go in your home 305! are you too good for your home?!"
and for kicks...here's a peak at the white car:

Time to retire that JAMA-Z sticker on Dad's car, too! LOL!
I'm interested as to what you're going to do with your white car.

yup...need to finish the engine bay, repainting it this weekend with base/clear. (btw, i can get a good deal on paint material at work now, if you're interested) then i'll set the motor in. i gotta finish the rebuild on the carb using parts from both cars, get a new set of wires and it's ready to fire. valve springs and a roll bar and the car is ready to hit the track.
nah...my folks have a drag racing ministry called JAMA Racing Ministry, which stands for Jesus And Me Always...hence JAMA-Z. the decals, along with the paint job, were all a gift from a fellow racer that runnered up against my dad in the finals at a race in OH a few years back...the JAMA-Z is what this car is known by...we'll keep that there
----------
ah yes, true true...so maby like retired-civilian? lol!

Re: mighty 305's new home
no. actually, that's one of the things we're excited about, is that my th350 SHOULD be a better match to our heavier cars (considering the lack of power output we're talking about here...with another couple hundred hp, the 'glide might be the better choice). we're hoping some much better acceleration with the th350 over the glide. his best 60' before was a 1.62, which was the same best 60' i had with my 305.

Re: mighty 305's new home
Looking good Bro, I just got a hold of a T56 from a 97 Z that had 29K on the clock. I'm also going to a twin turbo set up next summer. Just buying parts here and there. I'm looking for 800 to the wheels.

Re: mighty 305's new home
The funny thing is I know auto's are faster, but on the other hand my car is a daily driver and I hit the track maybe 2-4 times a year or when there are special events. Besides I've always wanted to ****** gears. My turbo project is going to be beast and fun to drive too. The tranny will be built to handle the abuse along with a good clutch. The way I feel about a car is if you can't just get in your car and drive it when ever you want then why have it, when you leave this earth you can't take it with you. Looks like you and your dad are going to have fun with your new project though. I hope it turns out the way you want.

Re: mighty 305's new home
long enough to make the rocker arms scream due to lack of oil...only for a couple of secs and then they quieted down...i pulled a valve cover to look things over after the initial fireup and to reset lash on #6 cause i took them off a couple days ago and didn't set them back right. anyhow, the rockers looked great so i buttoned it back up and took the video. i just took it around the block very briefly and womped on it in first gear...this thing is gonna freakin' fly...

Re: mighty 305's new home
demon, i'm running the slp kit. it's really the only thing i just broke down and bought as opposed to piecing everything together like i normally do. the lines come right off the master, into the solenoid, then into the stock prop valve. had alot of people tell me it wouldn't work that way, but it comes that way from slp and it works GREAT.
motor specs...nothing really special...dart iron eagles, forged bottom end with 10.5:1 compression, crane ground us a custom cam, you know, the basics
