Another new best for the Camaro
Changes over the winter were 3.23 gears vs. the old 2.93, LCA relocation brackets, boxed LCAs, poly LCA bushings, and replaced the 80 series Flowmaster with a 3" offset in/3" single center out Magnaflow.
The gears didn't make as much difference as I thought they might, in fact it was a little slower with me driving it than it was when my son ran it last year. After the muffler change, though, completely different story - it was running faster for me than it had for my son (he weighs about 60 pounds less than I, and wasn't back from college at the beginning of the season).
Best last year was a 14.37. I ran some 14.3's myself, and last week it ran a 14.30 for my son (unfortunately he had dialed a 14.39 and got treed). Last night, first TT with DA ~8500', it ran a 14.20 @ 96.4. Being the "club" event, track prep isn't always that great, so next TT was a 14.27, still better than all previous. 2nd round he bulbed, ran it out for a 14.198, DA was about 8100' at that time.
The '57 was slow for me last night, most everyone else was running quick, so an interesting evening.
Need to head for the track for the Saturday racing. . .

that's awesome bro! i KNEW those upgrades would net some good gains. and not too shabby of times at that altitude. you need to make a trip over here and get some sea level times for real

Last year, my son driving, almost out of gas, good air (~7000 DA), slight tail wind, 14.37. This year, me driving, 1/4 tank of gas, ~8200' DA, calm winds, after the 3.23's & LCARB's, 14.61.
Oh, Friday night it had about 3/4 tank of gas (my son doesn't seem to remember to go across the scales - I do at least once each outing).

Re: Another new best for the Camaro
so everything being equal but the muffler swap (gearing and suspension mods, etc.)....we're talking a solid .3 right?
my bird had a flowmaster 80 series on it...i HATED the way it sounded, so i put a stock muffler on it (it was free...came off an lb9 car with the factory 2.75" exhaust) but i can tell performance is down. i've been planning on going to either a magnaflow or a dynomax ultraflow...having a hard time deciding...

I would say more like .2 sec, given differences in weight and DA.
As always, without back-to-back runs with identical conditions, it's almost impossible to say (and we all know how easy it is to predict the next run. . .).
