Re: What should i run?
are those heads the 997 casting thats similar to a 993 or an 882? If so, coupled with the magnum cam, I would guess low 13's. at best. Thats assuming smog heads and an old design cam. The single pattern really wont work well with a stock head design. Any more info on the heads.

id say you have 750 horse power, or maybe 275 donkey power...o wait i know 1000 goat power. dyno it for christ sake.... o and y waste money on stock heads....when aftermarket betterflowing heads can be had for nearly the same cost....

Re: What should i run?
997's are an ok head for mild performance. they came factory on 350's and 400's from 1971-73. the bigger valves will help. a 268 or a 272 comp cam may be a better chocie though.
for a 408 maybe even a 262 would be a better choice, wont have the nasty sound but it wioll have alot more torque.
i have ran a 262 and a 272 in a 406 in my blazer before, pretty much the same parts you have going there except i had some dart torqer heads. the engine made more power with a 262 cmop cam than it did with the 272, but the 272 sounds more radical.
