My drag race video (unedited)
I made 4 passes today and recorded all 4. The first 2 are inside the car during time trials. The second time trial run, the camera was aimed at the driver side dash and it tilted back when the transbrake released but it still turned out to be an ok shot.
These are all 5500-6000 rpm transbrake launches. 60' times were in the 1.4x range.
First round of eliminations I dialed 9.88 to my opponents 9.67. I cut a -.012 red light. My opponent got a .061 light. I ran 9.887 on my 9.88 dial and my opponent ran a 9.679 on his 9.67 dial. All I needed to do was get a better light than him and I would have won. The first round video shot is a keeper. Fantastic camera angle and great footage.
Bought back into the buy back (bonehead) round and got paired up against a 17 second street car. As soon as he launched I started counting. When I thought I was at 6 seconds, I came up on the converter but I was on the converter for at least 5 seconds. I was also asleep on the tree with a .222 so right away I knew he was going to win unless he broke out. The car dialed in 17.75 and ran 17.753. I broke out running 9.843 on a 9.88 dial. The camera angle of this run was taken by someone else from on top of the tower. It's a little shaky. This tower shot you can really see the wheel spin I get. That was with 7 spi air pressure
The video is all 4 runs of all the footage including coming up the return road when the camera was mounted in the car. Fast forward through that stuff. I'll edit, splice etc later to make one video that makes it look like one run with different cameras.
That's it. Season is over. There may be some Friday night street legal nights yet if the weather stays nice but the nights are getting cold so I doubt I'll be making any more runs. 61 runs this year, a barrel of alcohol and the engine still runs. That's a great ending to the season.
Allow time for the video to load. This is a WMV compressed file and it's still 58Mb. The raw footage on my computer with better resolution is 1.5Gb
Enjoy. It's just over 7 minutes long. Crank up the volume!

No. That's my dial in if I was using crossover. The other side is 0.000 so it ignores my side. I could just as easily have 0.000 in there also. Using crossover, I could get 2 hits on the tree if I was the faster car. I have to push a different button to display the delay. My delay is set to 1.025 except on the last run where I was asleep. Because I hit 2 red lights today, I bumped it up to 1.035.
I just watched the uncompressed video on my computer. The wheel spin I got on the last run, I can watch the MT on the side of the tire go 180* around before the tire grabs.

yeah I saw that also. You were on the converter a while, that always makes my car leave harder, plus alcohol loads up too on the 2 step like that for tons of bottom end. Good video shots though.

If there was a return road like that at the places I go, I'd constantly get in trouble driving through there faster than I should

The return road is part of the road course as is the dragstrip. You can see all the skid marks from cars failing to make the turns. If I went right down to the end of the dragstrip instead of taking that turnoff, it's a 2 mile trip around the course with even more twistys.

Re: My drag race video (unedited)
I've driven the 2 mile course after a 1/4 mile pass and have also driven the 2 mile course during warm up. You can see a turn off in one of the videos just past the finish line. Going down the return road, you can cut onto the track there before racing starts to go down the track during warm ups. Going for a leisurely cruise all the way around uses the same amount of fuel as a 1/4 mile pass, 1 - 1-1/2 gallons of alcohol. All season I've noticed that I get 3 passes on 5 gallons of fuel. Including what's in the fuel cell, I go to the track with about 18 gallons just in case I go a bunch of rounds. One of the reasons I didn't go to the track yesterday is that I wouldn't have had any fuel for today although I only did 4 passes today. End of the season and my barrel is just about empty.
