NHRA/IHRA rules about battery relocations
I was told by a friend that if the battery is not in the stock location you need a cutoff switch that is VISIBLE FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR... is that true? If so, looks like I'm not racing anymore!

Re: NHRA/IHRA rules about battery relocations
IHRA and NHRA rules for battery relocation are the same
All batteries not in the stock location must have a master switch mounted at the rear. Off must be clearly marked. If mounted in a push/pull configuration, push is to be off. Switch cannot be made of plastic or keyed. Switch must be installed on the positive side of the battery and must shut off the engine when turned off.
Some people with street driven cars mount the switch inside the car with a removable rod that extends out the rear. When driven on the street, the rod is removed.
If you don't like the rules, don't relocate your battery.

I mounted mine under the frame rail, and ran the wires through the access plug in the spare tire tub. The switch/connections were all heavily coated with moisture-proof grease afterwards to keep things corrosion-free. The access plug was sealed back up with RTV once install was complete.

(My muffler is a single exit out the drivers side, so this area was clear.. YMMV)
The rod hangs down below the bumper, and is removed when not at the track.

I just put a piece of Tape on the Bumper with the "Push OFF" wording..
It passes Tech, and I didn't have to drill holes through the rear and lights..

I've seen a picture of one mounted behind the black plastic cover (where the plate lights are) of a camaro tailight so it was covered when they were street driving and they just took the little black cover off at the track
