What would these mods on a 305 TPI net me?
I was thinking about getting a low mileage 91 Z28 305 that is stock and doing the following:
150 shot of spray
yank stall (not sure size, but i know on ls1's they can drop half a second or more)
cut out
3.73 gears
I was hoping to have a complete and total sleeper - something that people generally could not just be able to tell that I have anything done. With sticky tires, what kind of times in the 1/4 mile could I see? Are 11's out of the question??

well you're on the right track for sure. I would go with around a 2800 stall, Edge, PTC, Fuddle, Yank are all good ones. I dont believe you'll be in the 11's with that combo, MAYBE mid 12's keep in mind those cars are 15 second cars to begin with so it takes a little more than bolt-ons to drop 4 seconds off your time. With a cutout, slicks and skinnies, 150 shot and 3.08 gears i got 13.3's. with gears and a stall you might be a second faster than that

boy, it sure is frustrating coming here back from an ls1 - they were soooo easy to get to go fast! then again my 408 shortblock cost as much as a clean third gen lol

Didn't the auto 305 tpi's get the crappy cam in '91? You could easily put a small cam in and most people won't notice it.
Edit: It had the crappy cam in it unless it's a G92 optioned car. If it's not G92 then put an L98 cam or LT1 cam in it for a stock idle.

91-92 Auto LB9 cars DID get the good cam. They are still rated with less horsepower than a G92 LB9 because of a smaller exhaust, but people on this site have taken apart their stock 91-92 LB9's to find the bigger (and better) cam.
