Just got in from the track

No new bests but didn't really expect any with the heat. Found out one problem, the float levels were set too low and the bowls were getting sucked dry. Raised them and things went from a 12.90 to 12.09 @ 113 mph. Best of the night was an 11.94 @ 114 mph with no jet changes from back in May. My alt belt finally stayed on too after fighting that begining back in March. Changed some things around and it seems to have worked.

What was really cool was my friend's girlfriend racing her Nova with a newly built 350. We guessed the car would be in the 13's but didn't know really where. We were pleasantly surprised when it popped up a 13.2 @ 103 mph! That was with my buddy driving though She managed to do a 13.3 @ 104 mph on her last run Neither of us broke or had any major issues so it was a fun night

Re: Just got in from the track

.8 of a second from a misadjusted float. I had to lower all mine. Every time I turned the fuel pump on, a random bowl would overfill and leak out the boosters flooding the engine. I lowered all the floats to keep it from flooding and went from 10.1 to 9.82 in the 1/4. Also jumped from 133 to almost 140 mph.

Trouble is with mine, all the floats are much lower than the recommended install height. Fuel is at the sight holes but the floats are almost at the bottom of the bowls. I think my floats are sinkers but my fuel system has no problems keeping the bowls filled.

Next year I should have my Flying Toilets on. Alcohol injection means no more float bowls, accelerator pumps etc.

I had mine set at the recommended spot too but for whatever reason, it was running out of fuel. Seemed like it got rid of another problem on the 1-2 shift, the car would nose over for a split second. I'll have to check if it's flowing enough or at least check the filter.

Good luck on your injection setup next year. What setup are you going with? Couple 4 inch toilets?

Re: Just got in from the track

I have two 4.1" toilets sitting on an Edlebrock 2R tunnel ram. I need to get the belt driven pump resized from a #1 to a #0.5, pick up some different jets and a bunch of pills then I can install it. With our short race season this year, I'll finish it out with the carbs then work on getting everything ready for the injection system.
