What do i need for power?

I want to build a good street car that will run low 12 or more like high 11's. Or better Right now i'm planning on an LS2 swap with L92 heads and L76 intake to start with plus other bolt-ons, but i don't know what it will take for power to get me to those times. I think that i can launch the car good, and i know i can throw gears, so hopefully the driver is ok. I don't want to shed any weight off my car, it's too pretty. So i need to make up for it with some power. The suspension i'm building should be able to handle it, i hope, but i dunno what i need for power....the last "fast" car my family has own was a '69 GTO Judge....and that was in '69. I'm vague, but i'm learning as i go...

Should i look at a different engine platform? I'm a fan of the LSX blocks though.

Re: What do i need for power?

the LSx base is a great start..with a cam and what you have, you should go in the 11's.. the suspension has nothing to do with how a car will handle the power.. its the drivetrain, so i hope you are getting the t-56 with it.. also, the rear might not take the abuse of 11 sec power and a manual..

Re: What do i need for power?

I'm planning on a 12 bolt and i was thinking a good suspension for a better launch, but like i said nobody in my fam races, so i'm learning. my car's got 180k so i suppose the suspension needs a refreshing anyways. Also a t-56 will be on it too. I am also not sure on what gears to put in the rear....3:73 or 4:11. I still want some top end, but i don't know how much difference 3:73 will make. or how it will affect my launch vs 4:11.

For suspension, i'm planning on SFC, LCA, replacing all bushings and all that good stuff, I'll probably figure something out if i am gonna change sway bars and other stuff like that. Pretty specific, huh? Plus i'll be replacing struts, maybe some lowering springs....? I'm working on a budget for this thing right now, figuring what i'll need/want, but when i got it down, it will be tear it apart and put it back together time! then cruising time!
Any ppl with good suggestions for this thing, let me know. It's gunna be done right the first time.

What does it take for hp to get a third gen into low 11's on a good launch?

Re: What do i need for power?

Bump for my old thread i guess....

I've since tore my ACL and messed up my knee a bit so this project has been on hold for awhile.....

Anyways, my car is going to be about stock weight, with what i'm adding and taking away.
I'm about 250 and i'd like to see this thing run somewhere between 10.5-11 sec in the quater. IDK what i need for power, but i'd like to see a rough number... With my current build palns i should have 500+ rwhp. And if i put a supercharger on it........
