new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!(new time, now its better)

bad day for racing, cold about 45F(5cel), wet...
first run was my best run was 14.188 @105mph
2nd best 14.251@104.6mph
3rd 14.326@101.8mph

other where 14.5 an up at about 100-104mph

traction was bad but mph sould set me somewhere in the 13s???

didnt have 60' but they where almost 2.5-3sec

Thanks
Seb

Re: new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!

You should be able to go at least 1 second faster with your MPH. Some guys with well layed out setups have gone into the 12s at those speeds.

Re: new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!

i've been 12.8x's at as slow as 102mph, 105 is good for 12.6's.

Re: new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!

get some slicks initially and that should help a bunch. Do you have a stall converter or anything else? What's the combo and what's done to it?

Re: new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!

my setup bfg 255/55R16 DR, 2200-2500 custom torque(stock size)no lock up, 4.10 gear, 700r4 full manual, with rod end LCA/Panhardbar...for the car

the new engine
performer rpm head, air gap intake, holley 650dp, xe274, 355cu.in, flowtech 1"1/2 header with 2"1/2 exhaust dynomax no cat(i know this is chocking my engine but its just for now) and a good tune, from an 20+ year of racing exp.

with my other engine i was able to pull 14.6@94mph....355cu.in, 882 head with 2 busted valve, stock iron intake, stock quad carb badly tuned and the same header/exhaust combo....zero traction issue the car as the same only the engine changed.

thanks for your answer

Seb

Re: new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!

your mph will increase a bit but not extreme.. you should have no problems hitting low 13's.. high 12's will happen too.. i say you get down to 12.4 after all is well..

Re: new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!

I was running 13.8's @ 95 mph, on a 1.89 60'. Get that car to hook, and you should see a minimum of 13.0. BTW what does the car weigh? Hard to make a lead sled run off of the line.

Re: new motor time...BIG traction problem!!!

new time today....and a new best of 13.007 at 106mph....smell like 12 if i can get better then 1.822 60'....i had my dr set at 16psi but the track was a little cold, outside temp was about 15degC and sunny, maybe on hoter day i could touch 1.7 60'... im crossing the line at about 6krpm in third and im shifting at about 6000-6500rpm, when im shifting earlier i get 13.2-13.1 e.t....my last 4 run where between 13.007-13.048, the posi was holding strong but i dont think it will last long.

Im now more happy with my new engine....did about 11 run and 2hr trip to the race track....its holding great im still in the break-in j/k
