28x11.5 QTP's...tubes??

I know the M/T E.T. streets say that tubes are required, but i want to run the 28x11.5x15 QTP's and i wasnt sure if tubes are required for them or not. Also do you guys screw them to the rim? Whats the lowest PSI you've ran in them without lessening the contact patch? car is aroune 3350 lbs race weight with me in it, im assuming no less than 13-15 psi so they're not spinning on the rim. Thanks for the help

Re: 28x11.5 QTP's...tubes??

The hoosiers are not as prone to sidewall bleeding as the M/T slicks are..ran both and have experience with both. I run the hooseris your contemplating religiously for years and without tubes, not a problem...mine are even screwed. Before I started running faster I just had the tire shop use bead glue/tire snot to seal/glue the bead to the rim to prevent rim spinning and ran about 14psi without a problem

I now run my hoosiers DOT's at 10psi, no air loss and no rim spin.

QTP DOT's are techinically tube-required. I ran my first set tubeless, goo'd the beads, would have to add air each week. 2nd set same, but air loss was worse with one tire and really got bad as the season went on. It was leaking through the carcass in the middle of the tread (not punctures). I had tubes put in toward the end of the season, they didn't goo them to my satisfaction, I've had rim slippage that I haven't addressed for this season yet. But, they hold air great.

I hadn't heard of the liquid soap treatment for tubeless leak stopping before I put the tubes in. Wish I had, but the car still launches great with the tubes - just have to do something to lock the bead to the rims.

Re: 28x11.5 QTP's...tubes??

For what it's worth, I checked the pressures on my 28x9 Hoosier slicks and both were at 10.5 psi after sitting for 5 months. Not running tubes either.

Re: 28x11.5 QTP's...tubes??

I run my et streets at 12 psi and drive them to the track 60 miles each way. No tubes, but I have to add maybe a couple of pounds of air after 3-4 weeks.
