my LT1 headed 305
well this afternon i fired it up for the first time, gotta say im looking forward to a test drive. still tryin to figure out what gears to go with 3.73's or 4.11's, but i was hoping you guys could throw some guesses at me for what kind of numbers i'll be making and maybe some 1/4 mile times. i've got aluminum LT1 heads with a zz4 cam a gmpp lt1/lt4 intake with a holley 600DP on top, any input would be appreciated

i think it will pull to 5500rpms easily and make some nice power. that cam and worse L98 heads on a ZZ4 is said to make 355hp. you should definately be around 320 with those slightly better heads even tho u lost some compression..but just alittle bit.
and i'd stick with 3.73's with that 700r4
and how hard was the conversion to LT1 heads? how are u running the water passages in the heads? any accessories on the motor still?

converting the lt1 heads wasnt as bad as thought it may be just had to get the extra coolant holes welded up, as for the coolant i had 3/4 inch holes drilled and tapped on the front of the heads, it takes some grinding on the alternator bracket to get clearance for the coolant line but all in all its not to hard. only accessories i have are water pump and alternator.
shouldnt my compression be higher the lt1 heads are something like 53 cc and my stock l03 heads had 58 and i had to have the lt1's milled alittle

Hey ramair92rs I'm getting ready to do this to my lo3, and I was wondering how you were able to go around using an ac delete pulley? what did you do about the tensioner?

Quick rough guess, depending on the weight of the car 14.2 to 13.5. Good luck and let us know what she does on the track!

Re: my LT1 headed 305
Thank god I finally found someone that has done this conversion. I was planning to do this with a 350 block I have and destroke it to a 327 to somewhat get the classic 'RS' feel to it.

Re: my LT1 headed 305
dont know why but it didnt send me emails on replies, anyways to answer the question about the ac pulley i got around it because i dont have AC and i have no tensioner either i made my alternator bracket adjustable with the help of some carbite bits...so far no track times im still having some tuning issues, i cant give it full throttle from a stop, it'll hesitates, sometimes stalls but from a roll runs like a raped ape at full throttle...and im thinkin 4.11's might be alittle much think im gonna go to 3.73's
