New slicks for the 2007 season - Hoosier DR's?

Last season the Camaro got the 26-9.50x14 Hoosier Quicktime Pro DOT's that the '57 had pretty much worn down the season before. I could go with a new set of those, the other possibility I was considering was the Hoosier DOT Drag Radials. If I go with the DR's, I'd mount them on 16x8 rims and go with the P255/50R16 size. So, the sidewall height would be reduced, and I'm not sure what effect that would have on launch. I'm sure it would drive better down the track, though. About $30 and 7 pounds more per tire than the QTP DOT's.

I didn't see many people that had run the Hoosier DR's yet. Only one post had results (best ET, 60' and MPH not quite as good).

I'm going from the 2.93's it's had for awhile to 3.08 posi disk rear. I'm also planning on boxing the LCA's and poly bushings, LCA relocation brackets if I can get to them. With all that and new tires (vs. well worn & so-so posi), I'm hoping it will launch a little more consistently than it did last year.

Anyone else done the Hoosier DR's?

Any particular reason you want the unproven hoosiers rather than the Mickey T's?

Most people I've known who have run the MT radials were mild about them. I'm quite happy with the QTP DOT's, and figured I'd give them a chance with their radials.

I wish I could say it was sponsorship, but. . .

Im getting ready to order some new tires. I have decided on the Hoosier QTP's.

Did you like the QTP's?

You might check out www.harlowracing.com for tires. They match the roll out on every set unlike most mail order places.

The ET radials are what I use. I run in the mid 1.6 range on 235 wide tires with a pretty stock suspension. They work.

FWIW though:
For bracket racing, they don't seem as consistant or forgiving as the ET Streets that I had before.

I bracket raced all season with them too and won 3 events. They were good but there was definately more variance in the 60' times with them. What kind of movement did you see on your short times?

I've had two sets of the QTP DOT's. I like them, but was considering radials for more top-end stability. The '57 doesn't seem to care as much.

You're talking about the Hoosier DOT DR's?
