Race gas choice
ok guys that are running race gas or even just for power adders, what kind are you using. Right now I am using cam 2 blue but I have heard some good things about the VP gas. Then again I have heard some bad things about the VP gas. I was at the NHRA races in Maple Grove yesterday and stopped by and asked the guys at VP Trailer and they said to use the C-14 I think it was for just motor and the C-16 for the bottle and if I wanted to spend some money use the DRT kind that it has more oxygen in it and go up 3-5 jet sizes. I was just wondering if anyone has use both brands and what the different results were and just any info on this would be great. Thanks guys

I really doubt you would need C16. Most NA cars use C12 and higher compression/power adder cars use C14. Unless you're running about 14:1 or using huge amounts of boost/NOS, you don't need C16.
You can always go to the vp fuel web site VP Racing Fuels and read the specs about each of the fuels.

As for C14 on the motor and C16 on spray, that sounds about right. the DRT stuff works good, but its EXPENSIVE.
Do they sell E85 at the pumps where u live?. Ive been reading and hearing about Quickfuel and The Carb Shop setting up carbs for E85 and guys running it in place of 110 octane for less than the cost of 87, and its supposed to be much eaiser to tune. Its also supposed to work well with nitrous. (although u might want to run race gas or methanol on the nitrous side).

i think theres a couple E85 stations around. i really dont notice it cause my truck cant run on it. i have the hand book in front of me now the VP guy said C12 for just motor and C16 for the bottle and like i said the DRT if I want to spend some money. I was just curious about the different gasses and to see if theres a gain there. I am running 11.33 @ 119 and would love to hit the 10's on this set up. I was wondering if this would be something that will get me closer to that goal.

i live at 5000' eleavation, and normal race eleavation is 6300 or more.but i have been running sunoco 110 for 2 years. my motor this year is 13.92 to 1 compression and hit it with 150 to 250 NX shot of nitrous, and have had no problems.
i run 11.3s on motor and 10.3 on a 150 shot

oxjanted fuels are good and bad, i never used them on cars but i did on bikes.
On 4 strock super bikes you would see a gain of 2% up to 8% in power, and i dont have to change the fueling curve (FI).
Maximum mph would be 5 on a 145mph bike in the 1/4 mile.
On 2 strock bike they do lean out the mixture and i usually go up 1-2 main jet size.
Some of them give you more power than others. I personnaly use MRX01, U4, and MR9. Never tried DRT.
The problem with those type of fuel that they are a bit corrosive, i drain the tank and flush the fuel line after racing.
The other problem is once you open the tank it doesnt last too long 1-2 days after that, you lose power if you use it. Got to be fresh.
Hope it helps
