Those street tires are going to kill your 60' time, especially with a combo that makes a lot of torque like you have. I'd guess around 8.3-8.6 1/8 mile depending on how bad you spin. With sticky tires I'd guess you would be in the mid 12's in a 1/4 mile, which is about an 8.0 1/8 mile.

My guess is a 8.2-8.5.Assuming you can run a 2.0 or so 60ft but like jbenge said, those street tires are going to limit your launch. At least you have some susp. mods. What type of street tires are they.A cheap tire or a performance based street tire? That is a solid 12 second car with slicks.Good luck!!!!!

yeah i figured these street tires would kill off my times. I was hoping that the launch pad would help me some with the compound they put down. The tires are just regular street tires. they are not even sticky ones. If I go out street driving and stop at a light or a stop sign, punch the gas to the floor I will spin untill is shifts 3rd gear which is several feet up the road. So what do i do? come off the line of the primaries then engage the secondaries or just punch it and hope the pad has more grip than the regular tar on the street.
I am planning on getting some decent tires for the car just that money is somewhat tight right now.

Im going to tell you now. You need more cam with a stroker motor. My roommate (Hodge on here) ran a similar cam and it held the 383 back. he put a new cam in with 238/242 duration and it woke the car up BIG TIME on the Vortecs.
Also, you NEED MORE STALL. a 2800 stall is just not enough. you need a 3500 GOOD stall...im not tlaking cheap B&M junk, im talking ATI or a Bradco converter. spend it on a ocnverter ONCE and do it right!!!
For tires, I highly suggest the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials. They'll work GREAT.
As for now, with good tires I see 8.1's/8.2's out of it. Goodl uck!

this is a street car driven daily 10,000 miles per year. I know that the 383 has more potential but I dont want to fuss with it in traffic on 100 degree days with the wife and kids, no vacuum for brakes, higher compression dealing with pump gas. ect.. ect.. the converter was from gear star along with the tranny. I have no transbrake so the actual stall speed is really unkown. I like it that I can drive it from a stop sign and the converter acts tight. My foot to the floor and it works well too. If I do decide I want more power I will ditch the vortecs and the cam and headers and do a different combo all together. see everthing I have kinda fits good for a street car But thanks for the tips...

Re: what will I run? 1/8 mile track tomorrow
got to the track yesterday. Temp was 65 and the wind was blowing at us. I had drag radials put on this spring.
so first run was a major spin off the line and I aborted. second time I heated the tires real good and decided to not open the secondaries off the line and open them gradually about a second later. That was all I had time for
Results:.
.7529 reaction
1.8402 60ft
5.1741 330ft
8.0120 1/8 et
1/8 mile mph 86.91

Re: what will I run? 1/8 mile track tomorrow
that's pretty decent considering the launch technique used. what dr are you using? a mickey thompson dr with a set of lca relocation brackets will net you some solid 1.7's with your combo.
regardless, the idea of the street tires working better on the track is flawed. the compounds don't mix and is kinda like wearing running shoes on ice and wondering why you keep falling, lol

I got nitto nt555r 245 50 16.
I think I will be doing the drive to the strip and bolt on the rims with slicks if i am to take this more seriously. I need to start looking into how big i can go with the rim tire combo and do it on the cheap.

Re: what will I run? 1/8 mile track tomorrow
whats the cheapest way to get that size rim?
do they have that tire in a 50 instead of a 60? i would not want that much increase in gear ratio if i could help it as i only have a 3.73 rear.
