will my cam benefit from some 200cc intake runner heads?

i got a crane powermax solid cam with 238*/248* @ .050 .480"/.500" on a 114lsa. with my 113casting aluminum vette heads with a mild bowl blend job and un-touched runners the car has gone 12.16@110mph with a lazy 1.65 60' time. (had to go easy out of the hole for fear of wheelhopping).

i'm thinking of going to a dart iron eagle head with 200cc intake runners. the car is my daily and i'm a little concerned about lowend torque, though as soon as i can come up with a little extra cash, i'll be buying a beater to get good mileage and such.

c/r with the 58cc aluminum heads is 10.2:1.

i'm thinking of going with the 64cc combustion chamber, which would effectively lower my c/r with the current head gasket (.041" corteco gaskets) to 9.5:1, but they are iron heads.

tell me the pros/cons of this decision...what would you do with no more than an $850 budget for cylinder heads?

oh yes, i want to spray it at some point in the future...after the daily status is revoked.

I ran 9.9:1 on pump gas with Vortec heads. I say whatever you get, don't drop compression, and you definitely could use more cylinder head. Just be sure to do some work to the Darts, they are a joke out of the box. My 220's and two of my friends' 230's were 30-40 cfm below dart's advertised numbers out of the box. Ridiculous...

what if i went to a .025" steel head gasket to keep compression ratio up...would it work well on the street? or maybe had them shaved down a bit...something around say 60cc combustion chamber...

and dad is running these heads on his car right outta the box...a little more cam and c/r (10.5:1) with a powerglide and 100lbs. more in the car went 11.78@118mph

My friend's 230's didn't even flow 170 on the exhaust at .700, on the intake they flowed 26X or 27X. Well below 300/2XX that they advertise on their website. Your dad probably has 2 or 3 tenths and mph if he gets some good porting done.

I am not really sure when it comes to street cars and head gaskets, I ran a .015" shim gasket to get my compression up with a 4v relief dish in a 350. I think dart sells a 54 cc version of their heads, might be worth looking at so you don't have to spend a bunch of money having your heads milled.

Yes with that cam 200CC heads would be better. Heck I'm using Dart PRO One's 200CC and my cam will only be a bady cam at 218* on the intake. With some searching you can probably find a deal on some used heads.
