New,new times with 496 combo today..
Well able to get to track today with some bugs worked out,not where
I want it to be yet but getting closer...
Important thing is it improved with every pass thus far, I am sure the engine is still breaking in and especially loosening up with every pass.
First pass:
60 1.442
1/8 6.500 @ 106.00
1/4 10.202 @ 133.57
Shifted at 7000 - not watching shift light.
Second pass - on converter a little more, shifted about 7200
60 1.439
1/8 6.492 @ 106.77
1/4 10.160 @ 132.33
Third pass: - on converter a little more about 2400 leave, shifted @ 7600
60 1.409
1/8 6.447 @ 107.52
1/4 10.086 @ 135.13
This pass actually watched shift light, very hard for me as I
am a tach studier.. also found that its not working above 500 rpm.. wtf!!!!!!!!!!! Great summit discount parts..
Fourth and final pass: - Converter @ 2600, shifted 7600=7700
60 1.399
1/8 6.441 @ 107.55
1/4 10.076 @ 135.37
Getting happier, no leaks actually great traction!
Got to see orr89rocz again, really cool guy with clean azz car!
He had taped atleast my first pass, really hope he got last as it left hard as hell but really really need sway bar soon..

I never watch my tach. With a playback tach, I can watch the run after I get back to the pits. The shift light is a different story. I use an LED, 1156 replacement bulb in the shift light and it's turned on by an rpm switch built into the ignition. As soon as the light comes on, I hammer the shifter forward. You don't have to look at the light since it's bright enough to get your attention even if you're watching the track. Trying to watch the track and the needle on the tach at the same time is hard to do. I want to make it even easier and have a solinoid on the shifter do the shifting when the rpm switch triggers it.
First 2 passes are shake down passes. Last 2 passes made about the same amount of power based on the mph. The only difference is the better 60' time probably from the higher launch rpm. You should feel what it's like launching off a transbrake at 4500 rpm.
I can only hope my runs this year are as trouble free.
What are your cam specs?
Are these NOS or NA passes?
Time to change your SIG

Thanks alot guys!
Steven: car in sig is my other car, don't even have this one in it..
This car is all n/a, cam is..
278/284
782/748
Tom: Congrats on your new best.. 11.6! got her flying now!
Those runs were at PRP pittsburgh raceway park, Pittsburgh Raceway Park - Official Website about 40 minutes from my house.
9s are atleast in reach - also car has 0 tuning thus far, just trying to break in and learn new combo, still working some bugs out - seemed to be breaking up in first a little, maybe jet extensions.
Trevor: not certified yet, actually has not run a 9 yet, but totally legal for 10.00s But hope to soon be certified and using that option.
Ross: thanks alot! not as easy as it looked though Think a solid swaybar will improve 60s a bit - also wanting to get a transbrake sometime soon..
OrrRocz: You are the man! Thanks alot!
Could you mail me that vid clip?
Next time out hope to work on jetting a little, maybe smaller squiters as well.
gonna try to change things one at a time though...
Car bottomed out twice at end of track due to 156,000 mile stock struts on front still, so some new struts and a swaybar should make a nice difference....
also there is some unwanted weight in car still, bumpers, radio, seats, door supports,ect.ect. Put some nice dents in couple primaries - guess 135mph bottoming will do that, will fix that problem soon..
May also get taller drag tires for front, will help ET due to roll out and weight..
Actually, just rewatched vid - you can see sparks at end..

Car: 1993 bottom breather 5-Liter
Good to see the ol' 82 back on the tarmac. I can remember the days that thing was bustin' some high 11 sec passes. And I was rowing my way to some low 13's. Dayum, looks like I need to get a rowing.
Congrats on a helluva combo......

Good old days man! when 13.0 was fast!!
Now your rowing your way to a high ten with a stock internal 302!! wicked.
Steven: Thats not chassis twist, thats suspension twist.
That and sparks were covered in earlier post - have plans for already

Yeah there is an up hill point there, but a very big dip right at start - car still has 156,000 mile stock struts on front. Great for upward transfer, unfortunately also great for downward transfer... Getting new soon along with a little taller front runner and get rid of 24" vw tires.
