11.60's GTA on juice!!

I finally got to the track last night. It was the first time this year so I was a little shakey.l I got there late so I was only able to get one pass in. I juiced off the line and hooked great and shifted perfectly. The only thing that got me was that the trans shifted into overdrive around the 1,000 ft. mark. I thought I was still it D. I shifted it back down to 3rd and the car began to pull hard again. I figure that cost me a couple of tenths and MPH's. If I could remember to keep this thing in Drive I hope to get into the low 11.2-11.3 range. You guys are gonna love this..........I was up against a Mustang GT and check it his time

Quick calculations say you should have been in the 11.4 range based on 1/8 mile and 1000' mark ET's.

You are lucky that your car is well setup, he killed you on reaction time. Get a few good runs in and that alone could cut you to 11.10.

the timing system does not start until you break the timing beams. you can have a 15 second reaction time and still run an 11.6.

Sorry, didn't realize it wasn't for that type of competition.

But still .097 is pretty good, being is a good driver is sometimes more important than having a fast car.

By the way, congrats.

I think a road course would be fun as hell but just making left turns would be boring to me. Kinda like to mix it up a bit It's also fun having to work the steering wheel while trying to go in a straight line weeeeee

i heard that man! luckily i haven't gotten into that situation, but watchin' the pro classes in the NSCA, NMCA, PRO, NMRA, and FFW is absolutely amazing what they have to do to keep them bad-boys straight!

Thanks for the replies guys.

EvilCartman, it's a 150 wet shot with NOS's plate set up #5151.......not the greatest but it sure was easy to install.

Yeah, I know my reaction time sucked but I'm leaving the line on a foot brake. I was trying to load the converter but the car started moving forward. On the tree I ran deep and when I saw that I lifted off the throttle and by the time I got back on the tree was at the third yellow. I'm thinking of a trans brake sometime in the future?? Anyone have experience with this on a 700R4?

only thing i've heard is how much they like to eat 700r4's...but they do make a full manual valve body with trans brake for the 700r4.

You can still get killer r/t's with the footbrake, it just takes a lot of practice and consistancy.

why did it shift into overdrive? you have that trans thing that allows for WOT shifts to overdrive? usually the trans shouldnt do that.

nice runs tho

Yeah I've got a B&M WOT 3-4 upshift valve.

I'll need some more practice at the tree. Don't think I'll get a trans "break" for the Level Ten 700R4, oops I meant trans brake.

Slightly off topic, but I see you're talking about t-brakes. Where can you get one for the 700. I need to get one for my new combo.

FASTBIRD, Thanks! I see that you're from N. Plainfield. I live in Bound Brook, like 10 mins away from you down 22. You have a 11 firebird? Not to many people around here have 11 second street cars. The ricers around here get h@rd on's when they run 14's. PM me. later!
