If the carb itself is that much higher, I'd suggest you just mate a stock hood to a sawz-all and see what happens. If you plan on using an air cleaner, then its going to be at least 7" above the fenders I would think.

i know that a 6 inch cowl hood would fit i also know that there are several different aero scoops that would have clearance as well. do you think the 6 inch would look over kill on my car?

what intake are you running that is single plane? i have put a super victor on a SBC with a 750 double pumper holley, a one inch carb spacer, 3/4" nitrous plate and a 14x3 air cleaner all under a 4" camaro cowl hood with a gap at the top still.

I have a sbc, team g 2" rise intake and a 800 DP. The top of the carb on mine is about even with the fender line. Wondering if you meant the top of the filter is 4 1\2 above the fender line. In that case with mine, I have a 4" cowl scoop and with a 3" filter it all fits with about 1" between the filter and scoop. I use a filtered top cap on the filter. I used to use a drop base filter bottom and a 5" filter on that setup. Have switched to cold air so no room for the drop base.

If you can't find a 6 in cowl hood, make your own. That is what i did, when finished my car the first time there was no one making a 6 in cowl hood, so I just bought a bond on piece to install. I Plasma cut my hood, and mated on the cowl portion. Be advised though, I had about 20 hrs in putting it on and trying to make it look right.

kit i will be using. The top of the carb is about 1/2-1" above the fender line. with a 2 inch drop base with a 6 inch filter the top is 4.5 above the fender line. i am leaning towards the 4 inch cowl hood so anybody who has one esp if its a TA should post pics up and put there reccos as to what company to buy one from. the only company i have found so far is glasstech.
