TPI works in strange ways when it comes to gears. I cant figure them out.
gears really won't have much effect on the 60 ft in cars with a good amount of power (300+ rwtq). Gears will help past the first 60 ft.

If anything the gears will make you spin worse in the 60 until you get used to them.

Ya my car dynoed at 329 rwt. So at the flywheel it proably has alot. Enough to smoke the tires.

Not if you have adequate traction.

Vigilante and Yank both make good torque converters.

Sounds good. I have heard of Vigilante before. What do they go for around $700?

I have the Yank SS3600 and it was around $700, maybe a little more but sure is worth the money. A Vigilante 3200 is the same as a Yank 3600 from what I have read.

Do these just help in off the line performance? Or is it all threw the powerband? I have a Camaro book here by david shelby i think it is. Anyways there was an article in there about a car that could chirp the tires. Then once they put a street fighter converter on it the tires would spin all day long.

TRAXION's car had an aftermarket TPI system like HSR or SuperRam (if you'd consider that "highly modded TPI") along with many other mods (AFRs, cam, etc.) on the stock L98 block, and I'm quite confident his vehicle would have obliterated many stock LS1s. He was running like 11.6s.

Are some test tracks in better shape than others lol. can someone explain this cause I cant. An L98 that runs 15.2 stock is not going to be able to take any ls1 with just bolt-ons.
The answer lies in the fact that the retards who work for the magazines didn't know how to launch the car. I see the same thing with magazine compros of modern cars, where they're running much slower in the article than you'll see an experienced driver run with one. If they'd printed the 60' time with their 1/4 time, you'd probably see the discrepency.

Car: 1987 IROC-Z Camaro
Engine: 5.7 350 TPI - SLP Runners, AFPR, MSD Goodies
Transmission: 700R4 - Shift Kit, Corvette Servo
Axle/Gears: BW 9 bolt, 3.27s
What your car needs is a mild cam, 2400-2800 stall, Good tires, or even slicks, shift kit helps, start thinking about heads.

Cam: Comp Cams, not going to list specs because I don't know how you drive the car and I don't know what heads your running
Stall: Yank is one of the best in the market. Stay away from B&M
Tires:BFG T/A's
Shift Kit: All brands work well, I used TCI
Heads: Trickflows, AFR, World, stay away from Edelbrock, they are ok heads, but for the price they arent the best value.

I can vouche for that. Even STOCK my car run faster than 15.2. First time out it ran 14.66 at 94 mph.
Now runs about 14 flat when it's running right.
