Aluminum vs. Steel Rims
I need a set of cheap rims to put a set of DOT drag radials on when I get them.
I am looking for an old set of 5 spoke Z28 or IROC aluminum wheels, or I could get a set of Cragar Super Spoke steel rims out of Jegs.
Which of the above are the lightest (is the steel wheel that much heavier than the aluminum?)?
I dont want a heavy wheel that will hurt my ET, just dont want an expensive wheel either.
I currently have an old set of 14 x 7(?) aluminum rear wheels that I aquired with an 85 Z28 parts car that I just bought. Does anybody make a DOT drag radial for a 14" rim?
Thanks in advance.

You wont notice any difference no matter which way you go. Just get the cheapest wheel that works for you in a 15" rim.

If you get hold of the 16" cross laced GTA wheels, they are a factory lightweight wheel you can get pretty cheap and lots of Drag radials available for those.
I have used 14" 28x10 M/T slicks on a pair of 14x7 wheels I had,
Not sure about drag radials - I know M/H makes 14s - just not sure if you can find em tall enough.
