Also my first time to the track

Well i finnally got time to head out to MIR to run the car. Lets just say im very happy with my results.

Ran 14.062 at 98.11 mph with a 60' time of 2.066!

Car is for the most part stock with 107k miles...

Only mods are: K&Ns, Airfoil, Hi-Flow Cats, 3 inch pipeing with a 80 series flowmaster muffler.

It was my first time to the drag strip and i was a little nervous. I red lighted my first time but he let me back up and go again no biggie. I launched i think it was around 1400 rpm or so...stock converter. Easy on the throttle and hooked almost perfect...my 60' time shows that on street tires.

I was more then happy, i was telling myself if i see 14s id be satisfied cause ive never driven it down the track 107k miles blah blah blah

Well just thought id tell ya guys, met 2 members from TGO there so that was fun.

Gotta get a fan switch and my shift kit put in so im looking forward to heading out there in a week or 2 again!

I have to agree. You did very well for the mods on your car. Congratulations.

Very nice outing for your first time! Good luck with your quest for the 13's which you could probably hit with some experimenting just the way you sit now...

I guess location really does make a big difference. Around here, people would laugh you off the block if you tried to tell them you ran that with the mods you have. I am in the midwest, and the fastest factory thirdgen I have ever seen, was my second IROC I bought a couple yrs ago. I went 14.60 w/o ever turning a wrench. '89 IROC G92 with a flow, that was it. Mostly the thirdgens around here run low 15's, sometimes high 14's if they're lucky. Running 14.0x's is incredible. I dunno, anyone else seem to think that is pretty fast for a mostly stock thirdgen? Never been able to get either of my IROC's to foot stall past 1000rpm on the stock converter either. I'm not discrediting you or anything bro, just stating the differences of the midwest to the coast. If you really are running that, I'm coming to the east coast to run my car when it gets back together.

The times are very believable because back in the mid-nineties my friend puchased an 87 Iroc and the only mods that he had was an air foil, modified air box and we modified the mass air flow sensor IE sans the screens and it went 14.2 with some spinning...

I know it's possible. When I first bought this car it came with a factory 305/quadrajunk car and had 120,000 on the ticker. Went from hole in the wall dealership I bought it from straight to the track and was running consistent 14.80's with absoleutely nothing done to it. Later did a cam swap and blew the motor so never got a new time for the 305 then went to the 355.

Just good air alone will get you into the 13's no problem, heck even a different track could net you that much. Our home track I would run 13.00's consistently back in the day, took it to the NHRA track and got my best of 12.74 and weather was only about 500' better than what we usually ran in at home. Helped the NHRA track had the maximum downhill allowable grade

it was really cool out there, high 40s i think. I was running right around 170*

I dunno how MIR compares to other tracks with elevation and such. Its a nice track though.

I got my timeslip and i was soo excited. Im never gonna get rid of it either as it was my first run ever too!

and also amazingly enough...i watched WRXs SRT4s newer GTs tons of 5.0 stangs all in the 14.4-14.9 range...i felt fast lol

alright i just tested my converter...it goes right up to 1400 rpm before the tires start to break...

Is that strange?

I also talked to GTA Matt at the MIR he said his stall wouldnt go past 1000 rpm either.

hmm

Like I said in my first post, I wasn't discrediting him, was just wondering what everyone else though about it. I think it's awesome you are starting out that fast. I just wish I was running where you are.

Nice jobs. Timeslip is impressive for your setup.
