Went out for a test & tune this afternoon to try to get some more of the winter rust off. DA was over 8000 ft., I had things set up for "normal" running, was trying to vary launch RPMs for the sake of getting light. 1st run ET was as good as last week's best, then it clicked off one a tenth quicker. I was wondering if they mixed something up, but it was my #, most everything else seemed "reasonable".

Season starts next Friday, this was my last T&T opportunity. Hopefully the "good" lights I've had these two T&T sessions (both of them) will show up at the right time next week.

Local Friday night street legal races were last night. I don't have time to do the Friday night thing any more when I have to get up early for work Saturday mornings.

From what I've read on some of the local boards, traction was terrible. The street guys just don't understand that street tires and a cold track with no VHT is a bad combination no matter how well it runs on the street. Quickest cars were only running low 12's with no real muscle cars showing up.

Other than that it looks like they still had a good opening night. It was cool last night and I think the DA was under 3500 feet. Even taking the truck out to work on reaction times wouldn't be worth it. Foot braking a slow truck is not the same as transbraking with a delay box.

My season starts May 21/22 so I still have 5 weeks to go!!! I'm still working on getting the new starter in the car. It's all the aluminum heads problems. With the raised exhaust ports, the headers hit the underside of the starter. I'm in the process of modifying the tubes to clear the starter and I have no time during the week to get anything done. After that the car still needs to get on the alignment rack then I need to get it across a scale to see if I'm down to my goal of 2800 pounds race weight yet.

I still don't know if I'll have any problems loading the car on the trailer from the header collectors hanging down so much. A few weeks ago I backed out of the garage. There's a bit of a slope as I leave the concrete and I heard the headers scraping. I may have to modify the 4" round outlet of the collectors to more of an oval shape for clearance

Backed it up with a 13.78 1st TT this last Friday, but DA was down in the 6900' range. Humidity was up and traction down, otherwise it could have been even better. After that first run, traction went to pot and ET's just kept going up.
