15x8 rim what BS?-read all the searches already

Going to order a set of 15x8 draglites that I can throw some actual radials on for street driving and not chew up 3 sets of slicks next yr. I've read all the posts when I searched and have not got a definative answer on what actual BS to use-really looking for pictures that come along with explaination.

I'm not worried about beating inner wheel well as that's already done. Reason for 15x8 instead of 15x10's like I have, is to give it that "stock type" apperance so the rim lip is not flush with outter wheel lip on the body. Anybody with any smarts on tire sizes and how they work? Too used to ordering slicks with actual measurements to go by and not this metric stuff

Current slick is 29.5" tall x 9" wide-actual section width is 11.4"
I want a tire with maximum width even though they dont have a snowballz chance in helll for traction anywhere, but also want a taller tire to help fill the wheel well area so it dont look like a mud running truck that's ready for the Baja 1000.

I can deal with a tire that's 28" tall, but 29" would be best. So if anybody has actual pictures of any 15x8 rims with whatever BS you claim is best, please post them so I can get a visual, also please list the tire size you have on the rim also so I can see how tire measurements look in real life.

hello again.

the best i can offer up is my camaro which currently has 28inch tall radials on it with 275 for tread width. they're on 15x8 pro stars with 4.5 BS on them. i think they tuck nicely and look fine from behind.

i have pics in this link above.

LOL, Jay looks like Steve-O with hair.

What are the rest of your tires specs? 275/?-15

I can deal with the 28" heigth and they look really nice on that 8" rim. My front tire is a 215/75-15 so I kinda want a tire with some sidewall on it, not really a fan of mixing a big side wall on one end of the car and a low pro sidewall on the other if ya know what I mean. I kept reading 15x8 with 4.5" back spacing, but did'nt know how'd it compare to my 15x10's with the 5.5" BS. Thanks.

Is your rear axle the stock width? I have a 4th gen rear so 2 inches wider on each side and I went with 5.5in backspacing. You've seen my car, I think my 275 bfgs tuck nicely, but their only 26" tall. I didn't have to massage any fenderwell panels to make them fit.

I'd say if you already have 5.5" backspacing, go with it on your next set I think it tucks under your car great.

Maybe go with 275/60/r15 BFG's they're 28" tall but tread width is only listed at 8.8 inches vs my 275/50s listed at 10 inches.

I want to get the whole tire/rim under the wheel well. These 10: rims work great, but if you look down the side the edge of the rim is about flush with the furthest most point of the wheel lip. Makes for one heck of a mess after racing, used to get rubber over the entire car-hood included, that's why I went with a narrow slick this time to help keep the mud on the ground

The Ford 9" I got is factory width, but after seeing a few pics I think the 8" rim with 4.5" BS like they came with stock, might be the ticket. This is all about trying to look half way normal-might make a trip down the track lookin like a nostaglia funny car, I'll roast'em through the 1320

I had 15x8, 4" BS rims with 275/50x15 TA's mounted on them. They stuck out slightly under the fender lip. Never had to worry about them kissing it, though, the way the rear sits.

Those are just like mine. 8" wide rims are going to sit further under the car with 5.5" backspacing than with 4.5" backspacing, am I right? But either way i think they'll look fine.

I got out my arcitech ruler and drew it out to scale for comparison. Yes either way does work. I'm looking to get the tire under the wheel well.

With the 5.5" BS on a 8" rim it will allow aboout 2" between the wheel lip and the front of the rim.-This very roughyl figured.

With the 4.5" BS it will give 1" room on both sides of the rim-1" more between the inner wheel well and 1" from the outer wheel well. I think with the fact of sidewall buldge being something to consider for my application-I may just put some DOT slicks on there for different class racing for fun, the 4.5" is the way to go.

Right now with my 5.5" BS on my 10" rims I'm about maxed out with section width, so just to keep the rim "centered" out back I'm gonna order up some 8" with 4.5BS and call it a day.

I agree after looking at all the pictures either way looks great, just letting my calculator and drawings make the ultimate decsion at this point. Thanks guys.

Sorry for the crude drawing

sorry for the long reply. they're 275/60R15 which is a 28" tall tire. yea jay looks like steve-o with hair. good thing he's a good body guy and welder. got my cage welded in for exchange for motor swapping from me. I am very happy with the way they look and i couldn't agree more about those tiny front tires i have on there right now. i really need to go with bigger ones, but the price of them $50 for 2 i couldn't pass up being they're brand new.
