HOT & HUMID e-town GMHTP results
Well the e-town raceway park event went down last weekend. It was about 90-93 degrees with humidity around 90%.
To sum it up, it was horrible.
Anyway, car ran a best of 12.10 @ 111. Not bad for bad conditions.
Was anyone else on this board there? If so how much off of your usual pace did you run?

I was down there on the 28th, and judging by what others said it was bad. Temps were over 100 and it was MUGGY. One guy next to me had gone 12.3 the week before in NH and ran a 12.8 at Etown. I personally dont know how off I was as I wasnt even close to what he saw...
My best at Etown was a 12.63 @ 106.3, and last weekend I ran a 12.77 @ 106.0 with a much worse 60'. I am positive my cars running harder as the year goes on, but from my experience I lost about a tenth and less than half a mph!

Switch to alcohol
High heat and humidity are bad for everyone but at least running alcohol it isn't as noticable. Gasoline runs at a 14.7:1 air/fuel mixture. Alcohol is 6:1. This means I'm dumping a lot more fuel in than with gasoline. Because of the high fuel mixture, air changes need to be dramatic to do any performance changes.
If running properly, the alcohol engine still won't overheat in the hot conditions. My tiny Firefly rad works just fine.

You sure don't want to run Alchohol in a street driven car, it is very corrosive and washes oil off the cylinder walls. More power, more forgiving to weather conditions, but eats huge amounts of fuel and will cause rapid engine wear and corrosion of the fuel system. Race cars only!
