No racing this weekend and I'm actually glad
It's an off weekend and a complete turn around from last weekend. The skies have cleared up and no rain forecast for at least another week.
I'm glad I'm not at the track. Saturday night 5pm conditions. This is about the time when we get on track.
Temp 88F
Pressure 29.85
Humidity 31%
That gives a density altitude of just under 6200 feet. That plus I'd have to sit in a black car wearing a fire jacket waiting in the staging lanes. 100+F temperatures are not uncommon inside the car. I don't even want to think about how slow the car would run. The sun's been beating down all day so no amount of VHT would make the track sticky.
I'm back on track next week. I hope it at least cools off some.

Aside from your DA I'll take that weather any day. Last night I was making my fastest passes yet again
29.32BP 74%Humidity and 82degrees.
Cant remember it getting that humid in awhile, had the fog over the track and everything. Thankfully we're closer to sea level with DA from 1500-3500. Last time I shot my dash with my heat gun it was 158* and the roll bar would burn ya. Still have'nt found my lil fan I used to keep in the car

Give it your worst shot, fellas. I'll top ya.
(No racing for me this weekend, either. Something called the "Nopower Mile High Nationals".)

It's really noticable when watching Pro Stock. Cars that normally run 203 - 205 mph are all running 190 - 191. That's just how much power they've lost from being at altitude.
They should have a Death Valley Nationals (in the winter time).

I watched the NHRA race ("Nopower Mile High Nationals") @ Bandimere on TV the other day. They had a density altitude of around 9,000 ft. over the weekend. All the normally aspirated cars/bikes were having some serious breathing problems, and the fuel cars couldn't hook because of the high track surface temps. There were quite a few upset losses during Sunday's eliminations.

9000' DA is pretty typical. Anything below that is "Pretty good air today."
I didn't watch the coverage, but from talking to people who where there and reading the write-ups on the Bandimere and NHRA sites, the new tire rules probably had more to do with any traction problems than the heat - it was cloudy and 75 degrees on Saturday; Sunday was sunny and almost 90, but that's about 5-10 degrees cooler than typical for that event. And, they were setting new Bandimere ET and MPH records, so they couldn't have been having too many problems (Anderson didn't, for sure).
