1st time at the track

Well, I just got my license about a month ago...and have been getting used to my car. I took it to the track last night. The weather wasn't great, my buddy Kevin (383backinblack) was even running 3-4 tenths slower and 3mph slower than usual I was hoping for a high 13 but i am still not ashamed. My timing is at 32* and I feel that if I bump it up a bit and get a good launch out of it, I will be running 13.9's. Of course, my auto tranny slips going into 2nd gear and 2.73's didnt help out much

I had a little wheelhop off the line which resulted in some tire spin, but overall not bad 60's. Here's the slip-

R/T... .724
60'.... 2.17
330'... 6.022
1/8.... 9.147
MPH...79.23
1000'..11.835
1/4....14.125
MPH... 99.74

BTW I ran a 14.12, 14.14, 14.13 all in a row. And put a hurtin on a few 99+ Mustang GT's

Keep in mind this is a full weight car, I haven't stripped anything out yet. I still have A/C, full emissions, and its a T-top car. I'd say its around 3500-3600lbs. I was running 3/4 tank of fuel. I also still have stock untouched LB9 heads, untouched intake/plenum/runners, 19lb injectors, stock programming, fuel pressure, tranny, yadda yadda the list goes on. Its basically a bottom end motor with mild cam and exhaust. Everything else is pretty much stock

Figured I'd share since everyones so anxious about 335 1/4 times.

Not bad at all....gearing, torque converter, and sticky tires should get you deep in the 13s.

Thats what I'm hoping. Actually If I could get my launch down, with a 99mph trap speed... I should be a really high 13. But I will get there eventually

ive been waiting to see when your going to run that. very nice for the first time. next thing i would invest in would be a good set of street slicks and a fresh rebuild of the rear end with 3:42 gears and a posi. with that you should be solid 13.6 to 13.9 then i would try to freshin up that 700r4 with a 2500 stall converter and a good shift kit. that should bring you to low 13's. i wish i had ur car man there is so much more to inprove upon mechanically and it already runs a 14.1 keep up the good work on the 305

Thanks bro. Me and my buddy are going to burn custom chips for it, and try to get it to a perfect tune. With a custom chip and a 2.0 or 2.1 sixty foot, I think I can hit that 13 no problem.

I think I could of actually had the 13 if I waited till the sun went down and the air temp dropped (It was about 80 degrees when I ran), but I had to drive the car home 100 miles and didnt want to risk breaking it.

Nice times, but I’ll disagree with some people here, gears + converter + getting rid of the slipping tranny + figuring out what is causing your wheelhop should put you in the low 13’s to high 12’s on a good day. Hell, just working out the launch like you have the car now (lets say a mid 1.8 60’) should put you in the mid 13’s.
