Ran for the first time with the new combo
Just got back a while ago from running my car for the first time with the new engine and 9 inch It ran what I thought it might run the first time out but didn't get the 60 foot times I thought it would. Hehe couple of interesting things happend though. Little info on the car first, just swapped in a currie 9 inch with 4.56 gears and ran the Hoosier quicktime pro 26x11.50x15 tires for the first time at the track. Removed the front and rear sway bar (actually couldn't run the rear one) and had whatever tune on the engine that I've been just driving around on.
1st run. Did a crappy burnout 'cause the car went sideways. Pull up to the line, get the rpms up ready to launch. Cut a .470 red light and get thrown back in the seat so hard that the damn thing folds back and I'm laying down I cruise down to the end at an awesome speed of 65 mph and a time of 22 something or other.
2nd run. Do a much better burnout, folded rear seat down to act as a support against the front seats so no more falling back. Bring the rpms up again, launched damn good but felt like the car bogged down. Ran a 13.56 @ 101.58 mph 2.00 60'. I expected the car to run 13.50's first time out so that made me happy but disappointed with the 60 foot.
3rd run. Nothing spetacular, engine was running hot and stumbled a couple times before and after the burnout. 13.75 @ 100 mph 2.02 60'
4th run. Let the car cool down for a while then did a longer burnout. Ran the best ET for the night at 13.53 @ 101.57 and a bit better 60' @ 1.92
5th and final. This one netted the best mph. Kind of small on the burnout though. I was lined up against a new mustang and was hoping for a win which I got I ran a 13.59 @ 102.97 mph but a crappy 2.14 60'. The mustang ran 14.14 @ 99 mph with a 2.29 60'
All in all, I had a damn fun time after being almost a year since I've been to the track. Now I have a baseline to work from, this sucker will be in the 12's after more work grrr hehe. The car seems to launch hard at first but kinda dies off, probably going to loosen up the converter later on.
Got a video of the 3rd run of the night against an El Camino. I was actually going to race on the street a few weeks ago but never happend. Told him to come up to the drag strip and he had a lot of fun plus improved quite a bit throughout the night. Got his car down to 13.08 at 106 mph on regular street tires. His car has a 350, dual holley carbs with a tunnel ram plus AFR 210 heads, it's also a 4 speed So anyways here's the link to the video 5.2 MB encoded with Windows Media player 9

not bad for the first time. i have been waiting to see when u were going to run that. try tuning the carb to get that bog fixed and u will be mid to low 12's without a problem. are your slicks spinning off the line much with those 4:56 gears. i figured you would be atleast a 1.7 or 1.8 60ft time with those. keep tuning and keep up the good work man.
