Hey All,

I am real new when it comes to the racing world. I see people type stuff like

My times are

R/T .778
60 2.371
330 6.257

1/8 9.484
MPH 76.34
1000 12.256

1/4 14.616
MPH 93.94

Now I understand what the 1/4, 1/8, MPH and 3000 mean but whats up with the 60, 330 and R/T?

RT is reaction time. It's the time it takes from when the green light comes on to when you break the starting beams. Last year NHRA/IHRA went to .000 as a perfect light. You'll still see many people using .500 as a perfect light. RT doesn't change how fast a car will run but a poor RT during a bracket race will usually lose the race. The light can turn green and you can sit there for 10 seconds. The timer doesn't start until you break the starting beam.

60' is a 60 foot timer. It's the time it takes you to go the first 60'. That first 60' means a lot since that's when all the torque is trying to get a heavy car moving. From the 60' time you can usually tell if the car is hooking up or if you're getting a lot of wheel spin.

330' is half the distance from the starting line to the 1/8 mile. Personally I have no need for this number except I use it to determine how the car is running by breaking the run down into each section. If the car slowed from the 60' to 330 mark but picked up just as much from the 330 to 1/8 mile, my 1/8 mile time would be the same and I'd never know anything happened. By using timer points down the track I can see how long it takes to run each section.
