how fast??
I'm sure you guys are sick of these questions but im curious so I'm going to ask what everyone thinks.
My car - 86 z28
305 .030 bore
416 heads
223 duration comp cam
650 holley
longtube headers
dual exhaust
th350 w/ 2400 stall
3.08 gears
I think thats about everything. Any suggestions to help me go faster would be appreciated, I know I need some new gears but not sure what ratio to go with.
Thanks,
Joe

Ya probably something like that. Maybe even only high 15's. If you really want to know how fast your car will go, take it to a track and find out. Since no 2 cars are exactly the same, anything closer than a full second is just a guess.
Small CID engine, restrictive heads, short duration cam, small carb, highway gears. Don't expect much.

Your dad is smarter than you think. The only reason you shouldn't have lost a race yet is that you haven't taken it to the track yet. But that's not what you meant, is it...
Take it to the track and keep the racing on the track. If you want to keep driving and keep the car, you'll take that advice.
Depending upon the elevation of your track, I'd say mid-15's are a little conservative, using my results as a baseline.
