New best ET and Speed

Well I ran my car this weekend and it went the fastest it has ever gone. I made 4 runs and the car felt great.

1st run : 13.47 @ 102
2nd run : 13.18 @ 104
3rd run : 13.21 @ 104
4th run : 13.13 @ 106

I went red in the 2nd round so I lost that one, but it wen the quickest in the race. I guess I won, but lost at the same time. It was a great time.

Now not to sound like a jerk or anything, but I would think that someone with over 10,000 posts on this site would know that the little www thing under each post means that the person has a website.
Just incase you didn't see it:

I don't even use those buttons. If it's not in the body of the text then it's been unmentioned.

Ok, no big deal. I hope you got your answers though.

So what is the key to getting my 60' down anyways? I was running 2.09 all day.

Torque and traction.

Ok, I have the traction thing down. I think I know the answer to this question, but do you think a higher stall torque converter would help this out? I have a 2500 in there right now, I'm thinking of going to a 3000 to 3200.

With that kind of 60' time, you either have a cam with no low end or you do have a problem with traction/putting power to the ground.

When I had a TPI 305 in my firebird, it would run14.6x but I would have a 60' in the 1.9-2.0 region. With running low 13's you should be in the 1.8-1.9 if properly setup for launching.

Higher stall will DEFINITLY help out. Did you have the car at WOT or was the traction there with feathering?

I have absolutely NO traction problems. The tires don't even think about spinning. I think the cam might be the wrong one for this motor. I'm thinking of changing it out for another one over the winter, but that is a ways away. My 60' times are right at 2.09, which isn't too bad, but I want them to be lower. I definitely need more low end, and I think the converter will help out too.

If you want to swap cams sometime this winter, just let me know and I will give you a hand. Given your set up I would try the converter first. I have gone 13.2 to 12.5 on a converter change and droped my 60 foots from 2.23 best to 1.90 best. If you have the traction main thing to work on is multiplying torque. gears and converters are a great way to do that. What gears and how many RPM's are you hitting the traps with?

Thanks for the offer on the cam swap, I will keep you in mind.

My current gears are 3.42 and I'm not positive on what RPM's I'm going throught he traps at, but I'm pretty sure it is somewhere like 4500 or so. I'll check the next time I go up.

I say get some more stall and see if you are happy with the results. If not get some 3.73's and play with rear tire size if you are revving too high in the traps. You can help dial in reaction times by air pressure in the front tires. Harder they are faster the time is going to be. but yeah, go more stall!

I think you're right with that one. Now I just have to save up some money for a new converter. I would love a Vigilante, but I just don't have $700 to drop.
