3.73's and 26'' tall slicks????

Hey guys i was woundering what RPM would i be lookin at with 3.73 gears and 26'' tall slicks? as far as motor wise, all the mods are in my sig. also the tranny has a stock stall speed. should i run my car with the 26'' tires or just kill the slicks and get a set of 27 or 28'' tall slicks? i just dont wanna go to the track and blow my motor becuz rpms would be killer at the traps. this is just a worry wort kinda question?

Axle/Gears: 3.42, 3.42
If this helps i ran it in a rpm calculator, and with those gears and 3 gear on the tranny 1:1, 26" slick, i used your 88 mph in your sig, and at 88 mph you will be doing right at 4300, with 27" tires 4100, and 28" about 3900

Hope that helps some.

RPM's wont be too bad, I trap close to 112 on a 26" tire with 3.73's and I am turning just over 6000.

well i just dont know since its a relativly stock 305 like it was rebuilt about 10 yrs ago by a really good engine builder. i just dont wanna blow anything up or float a valve when i go down the track.

also would it help to have a taller tire like a 27 or 28? or would it just slow me down alittle?

I literally saw a zero difference when I went to a 27" tire, and same results again when I jumped to the current 28" tire. The taller you go, the better off you'll be since taller tires equal better traction.

i think u should find where your power band is in your motor first timz. basically where does it feel strongest and pull to on the upper end? u dont want to put on too small or too large of a slick and fall out of your power band when u hit third gear. it would slow your times down. im surprised your only running a 15.6 in the 1/4. i always thought with all ur mods it would atleast be in the 14'swith the 3:73 gears that should put you down to atleast a 15.0, by the way i have always liked your car keep up the good work.

Hey thanx for the compliments, my car now feels strong basiclly all over tha place. it feels the strongest from like 2nd gear up til the end of 3rd (or how high ive taken it too which would be about 4000k) and the car just felt alot stronger then before.

yeah im kinda surprised that ive only ran a 15.6 but i think most of my runs are when my carb is running rich. i gotta get my friend to put it on the computer at work and check it with the sniffer, so i can get the mixture set just right. and then set the timming to a nice spot. also i got a good feelin and since my suspention is so stiff its hurtin me alot. since that last run ive relocated the battery, sfc, gears, wounderbar, line lock. hopfully ill get the stb in and fix my floor boards. i think with the nice big ol holes in them it might be flexin. also im goin to try and find a set of lexan ttops at the junk yard to help lighten the load and pull my sub box out this time.
