Tire Softeners?

Tire Softeners?
Does anyone have any experience of so-called tire-softeners. A guy was telling me that they work great, but I was wondering if any of you had any experience of them.
I did a search on thirdgen which yielded zilch.
A search on the web yielded a few threads and products:-

Tyre softener.....does it work?

Re: [slot-list] Tyre softener
This one claimed that some tire softeners/solvents will "remove surface oil build up from the tires. But prolonged use, or soaking will actually accelerate the aging, and drying out process".

Any comments or help folks?

To my knowledge, none of our local racers use any sort of "softener". If your tires are too hard then they're old and dried out. Buy new tires.

When I was younger I used to race go karts on dirt and we would all use tire softner on our slicks. It worked, but that was for dirt racing, i dunno about asphalt.

I couldn't find anything on it either. Buy some and try it. Keep us posted.
