Track times w/400... (1/8 mi.)
Well, big delay in posting this, but I finally took my "stock" 400 'Bird to the track about 3 months ago. It was hot, sticky, and nasty humid outside, my timing was backed off, etc...but I'm not making excuses.
Anyways, I ran a 9.4 @ 75 with a 2.0 60'...not too shabby for a pegleg 2.73. I figure I'll swap to a 3.23 or maybe 3.73 posi rear next, just to see how much I can cut off simply with gear and traction. Maybe 9.1?
Then, toss the poopy 882 castings in the lake and screw on some Vortecs and a GMPP dual-plane. Already got the rocker arms. With just a head/intake swap (got a Stealth right now), think I can get it down to around 8.7's? Don't know what cam is in it, kinda mild, probably a truck cam. Loses steam at about 4300-4500 rpm. A decent cam will do nothing but help...
This car has SO much potential. Too bad it's so d@mn ugly...
