like the title says....do you have a 29 x 13.5 (or close) slick mounted on your car, and if so what backspacing are you using

I think you might have to raise the rear with air bags or something for a 29X13.5 tire. I tried some 30X9 slicks and had to pump up the air bags.

sorry wont fit

if you are talking about an ET Street or a Quick Time Pro then ya its possible

take a lot of fenderwell pounding and depending on what size backspacing on your rims some inner sheetmetal reworking

i purchased some rims/tires off ebay and they ended up being 15x10 with 6.5bs and the tires were 29.5x10.5W

Took a lot of beating and cutting the inner sheetmetal but they fit . They dont have room to grow however do to being the "W" version but if i want to fit a normal 29.5x10.5 slick or a huge drag radial i now have space to do it

stock axle width as well

well 6.5" of backspacing would be a problem, seeing as the stock rims are only around 5".....

if you retain the stock backspacing, then all the extra rim and tire size should be on the outside of the wheel centerline....so in theory it should fit in there,

like if i put a 15x11 rim with 5" of backspacing on the car, the portion of the rim and tire inside of the mounting flange would appear exactly the same to the car, alll the extra rim and tire would be on the outside (probably out of the wheel well)

so as long as the tire isnt too tall, you can theoretically have a super wide rim and tire without problems, as long as the backspacing is the same......so if for instance i went with a 3" backspacing i should gain clearance with the rim, and be able to use a super wide tire.

29.5X10.5W on a 15X10 here, does just fine. Had to do a little cutting but i think it still looks nice.

lol, its my car, i started the thread....and no i dont think that it looks cool to have the rim sticking way out of the wheel well....

however these tires and rims are only gonna be on the car for track duty, where i dont really care what it looks like i just want a big fat tire to stick to the pad

if it is REALLY far out of the wheelwell the track will not let you run. Its a hazard because the rear suspension can compresso so much that the fenderwell lip can touch the tire and cut them causing a blowout

just a FYI

well define really far out, cause i would say about 50% of the cars that run on a given street night, or even at an open test session have a fat tire thats outside the wheel well.....we arent talking about a foot here

ok man, please use your head

most large slicks stick out of the wheel well on MOST cars, because if they didnt then everyone that was making any kind of decent power would have to back half their cars in order to fit a tire that will launch their car, and thats just not reality.

Like i said, we arent talking about a foot here, maybe 1/2 inch to several inches

im at the track every week, sometimes twice a week and thats how it is, i have NEVER seen anyone flunked at tech inspection because their tire stuck out too far, not at New england drag way, and not at lebanon valley drag way in new york,

New england is an IHRA track, and lebanon is an NHRA track so thats not the difference either

am i using my head. If you have a tire that sticks out 2-4 inches out of the wheelwell you are looking for trouble. I've seen a tire blowout at our track because of people not fitting the whole tire in the well correctly. It isn't pretty
