the title says it all. i live up in the country and i have passed this blue and grey z28 thats sitting in a persons yard for about 3 years now. i finally just stopped and the girl only wants $400 for it. she says it runs rough. the bodys in great shape but it needs paint bad. i crack the hood and what do i find a 305 tpi. i looked at the year and its an 85. i dropped my jaw. its a great fixer upper. im gonna stop again 2marrow with money and get it. my first ques is? what does an 85z28 with the 305tpi and auto run in the quarter? i hear they were the fastest 305tpi's for the thirdgens.

 

Probably 16's. It's still a 305 and doesn't produce the same power as a 350.

 

i would say low to mid 15's at around 87 mph. my dad had a brand new 83 H.O. 5.0 and it ran 15.10's the 85 Monte SS ran 15.30's.

granted these cars were brand new at the time.

400 bucks can't beat that! buy that bad boy and use some extra money and stuff in a 350 and have some fun

swap rears with your 2.8 with the 3:42 and it'll probably run a high 14 but do yourself a favor and put a posi unit in it. i got a 3:42 in my 82 Z and i can see the front of the hood when i would stall it out at 2800 rpm

 

i just looked up some more info about the car and it says in 85 with the 305tpi auto it ran 15.2 @ 91mph. 0-60 happened in 7 sec flat. the rear gear is 3:23 it was the only option in 85 for the tpi.

 

i'm a 12.9x hopefull with my 85 305.
i've got a th350, aluminum l98 heads, getting an lt1 intake, coated shorty headers, and a cam.....and some go juice.

 

a FRIEND OF mine ran15.05 in 1988/1989 bone stock w/ 3.42 gears.
