need input !!!
Hey guys, I am probably taking the new car to the track for the first time tomorrow night for test and tune. I have to go through tech inspection first though, here is my set-up, can you tell me if I have missed anything they want to see for tech insp.
'85 T/A
T-tops (installed and locked)
tires have good tread on them
lug studs come all the way through the nuts
no D.S loop
TH-350 tranny (rubber hose for tranny cooler, hose is marked for tranny use, runs from tranny to radiator and incased in flexible metal wire conduit.)
pro-stick shifter with neutral safety switch hooked up
lights on all sides of car work (no bright headlights, just front turn signals with bulbs wired to burn bright, no operating brake lights just wired to stay lit when switch is on)
interior completely gutted (except for drivers seat, factory seat belt, and dash.)
all wiring on fused circuits.
inner and outer door handles work
fire extinguisher mounted within drivers reach for seat
battery in stock location so no disconnect switch
no air cleaner
there may be a few other things but those are the biggest items, let me know if I need to do anything else before I go through tech.
oh yeah, I also have a new helmet with the snell rating.

Battery hold-down works, radiator over-flow (catch-can) in place (stock unit is fine, just don't over-fill), neutral safety switch prevents engine start in reverse and any forward gear. Car generally safe, not dropping anything onto the track. Windows close. Seat belts in good repair.
Mechanical oil pressure gage must use metal line (usually-supplied plastic line not adequate).
Some tracks require a helmet, regardless of time/speed.

thanks guys, went to the track last night. got through tech just fine no problems as far as that went, however, had a few on the track.
1). car has a serious flat spot on acceleration, think the previos owner of the carb had a real light secondary spring in it so I put in a heavier one for tonight.
2). biggest probelm is the tranny, TH-350 condition unknown when installed, shifting manually, no kick-down cable,no vacuum to modulator, 1'st is great, 1'st to 2'nd shift is very sluggish !!!
is there anything quick I can do to help this ?? except for a shift kit and rebuild, just something to get me through today.

The kickdown isn't needed for dragstrip racing since you're only upshifting.
The modulator should be installed unless the tranny has a manual valve body. Without a modulator, or vacuum disconnected, the tranny either won't upshift or will only upshift at a very high rpm.
The 1-2 shift is the worst problem to have with a TH350. Most common fault is a failed intermediate sprag. The easiest way to find out is to pull the pan off and look for parts in the bottom.

thanks for the input guys, but I think its moot point now. got to the track---backed car off trailer (under power),got tech'd in and then I lost everything but 1'st gear, no park, reverse or neutral---even in park it feels like it's in gear at the same time.
all said, I'll be pulling the motor and tranny this week to fix the tranny, might as well go ahead and install the LT-1 while I'm at it.
thanks guys.
