i've never been to a track, just street racing with friends. anyways, i had my brother use a stop watch to time my "1/4 mile time" (long story on the process of doing this). The stop watch read "15.62"... does this sound right seeing my stuff (in sig). I'm putting on headers (don't know what kind yet) and the rest of the exhaust system sometime this summer. How much of an increase should i expect with this new exhaust system? What else should a budgeted racer add to make my 305 quicker. I want to break into the 14's hopefully.

exhaust is a great start for adding power, probably good for a few tenths in the 1/4 mile.

14's with an LG4 ain't easy. I was going to try but just gave up. From what I've gathered you'll definately need to ditch the cam. Your heads are supposed to be good if you work them over. Exhaust will help a lot. I put headers on my old 305, what a difference. But full exhaust, cam, and maybe some self porting and you should be able to hit the 14's. But I've also seen a guy run a 13.8 with just an exhaust and a cam.
