What Size Slicks

I'm going to get a pair of ET Drags for track use only. Trying to decide if 26x8.5x15 will be enough or if I should go with 26x10x15.
They're going on my 88 IROC L98 which so far has run 13.70's @ 102 mph. Currently running Nitto's but can't come out of the hole very hard without spinning them bad.

I went with 26x10x15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets. I ran them for the first time and this was my launch. Hooked good.

Nice! Two questions for you. What size rims did you put them on? What was your et & mph on the run?
Also, did you mean et streets or et drags?

They are on 15x8 Ralley Steel Wheels. They are E/T Streets. I swap to them when I get to the track. I just don't trust running on them all the time. If you hit water, I don't care if they do have them little lines in them, its over. My best run last night was:

1/8 mile track:

Reaction: .578 (decent)
60 Ft: 2.047 (fastest 60 ft of night was 1.93)
530 ft: 5.854
1/8 ET: 8.99
1/8 MPH: 79.04

So that was pretty decent. Still tuning on Brand new 350. Will be swapping from 3.42 pos gears to 3.73 this week so next Friday should have better 60 ft/et

Where did you find the 15x8 steelies? I've tried junk yards in my area and no luck so far.

Had them laying around. They are just old rally wheels.

No need for slicks. I run consistent 1.6x 60 ft times on both Nitto 275/50/15 drag radials and MT ET Drags 26x10x15. I'm running low 12's now, and working on a custom chip to get into the 11's.

Hey, kdgreen, that looks like union hill? I used to go on Tues nites till my tranny blew up. Hope to see you out there!

If you can find any old chevy 15 X 7 wheel, including the Z28 five spoke wheels, a 15 X 8.5 X 26 et street or 15 X 8 X 26 or 15 X 10 X 26 slick will fit. I used to run the 15 X 10's on those wheels with rims screws way back when.

Yep-Its Union Hill. I live about 10 minutes from there. I am usually there every Friday Night. I park in the first lot when you pull in the gate to your left. My dad is the mechanic on his friends sons junior dragster. I have yet to run a 1/4 mile track. I like the 1/8 anyway. They are really nice up there.

Just this weekend I pulled a 1.74 and a 1.71 60' on BFG drag radials. But, I will be make the switch to ET drags after I get the car running again, 26x8.5x15 by the way. The BFG are 255/65? 16 I do belive.

If you are going to switch tires at the track get the ET drags. Get the 26x10. I have seen cars cut low 1.30 60fts with that tire but they have a fully tricked out suspension and alot of power.

I know guys with low 11- to low 12-sec cars who run ET Streets all the time. Reason is some classes require DOT tires.

I don't have ET Streets, but I know my DR's are a bunch heavier than my ET Drags (w/tubes).

Ran the Hoosier DOT comparible to the ET street last season 26x9.5 no traction issues 1.80 60's and 13.5-6, this year got 27x11.5 Hoosiers more for the look this season, but if all goes well will be needed next season.
